    South Beach Diet - So far..a Miracle!

    Greetings,

    I'm newly diagnosed, but in retrospect have had this little gem of a disorder for probably 10 years.

    I rejected the standard treatments as I intuitively had a bad feeling about them.

    Then, as most interesting discoveries are made, by accident, I went on the South Beach Diet to lose a few pounds and regain some blood chemistry balance.

    Basically, I avoid all white stuff - white flour, white pasta, white sugar. Guess what - I haven't had an attack of IC in months! I took Percocets during attacks as they were pretty extreme and I actually had to close my business down during peak episodes.

    Now, not only is my acid reflux gone, but I can drink red wine, eat oranges (I don't do any juice - too much sugar), and basically live a very normal life.

    I don't know if this is an anomoly or not, but I felt compelled to share this information. Sugar is very impactful as an inflammatory agent which speaks directly to this ailment.

    Hey Magenta,

    That's great news - I've heard about the south beach diet but I don't know anyone who has ever tried it. I'm not a huge dieter but if it helps with the IC - I'm all for that.
    So it's just the white stuff that you cut out? Any other restrictions? I'd love to hear more about it.

    Very interesting...with other benefits besides just helping IC, such as staying away from the white stuff is very anti-aging and heart friendly. I think I'm going to try it.
