    Quit sugar 5 days ago...

    Hi out there,
Well, I decided to try a one month experiment of no desserts.
I've gained back the weight I lost last summer & am not a happy camper about that, so thought this might be one way to control the Elavil increased appetite issue. Also I did read here that some people do flare with sugar, so thought I'd try it (even though most people don't think sugar should be a problem for the IC).
Don't know yet what I think about this...

I'm not cutting absolutely everything out.. I am leaving in maple syrup, honey as long as they are a small part of a meal. I am keeping Looza pear juice as long as I dilute it by half with water & make it again a small part of a nutritious meal... I'm also leaving dates in, but am restricting myself to only 6 (one serving size)

What's hard is I feel hungry all the time. I'm wondering if this is some weird quirk of the Elavil... Will this go away? I'm eating enough calories overall.

    Any thoughts?
    Kadi

    Elavil and Appetite

    Hi Kadi,
I've been taking elavil for a little over 2 years now and it definately has increased by appetite....especially for sugary things. I've gained 10-12 pounds since being on Elavil. (But thankfully I was skinny before so im not big....but still it's hard for me to adjust to my new body!)

I don't think it ever goes away unfortunately....elavil increases your appetite and lowers your metabolism. I would just say reduce desserts and try to get some exercise. (Which reminds I should probably be doing that too..lol) I know its hard cause it makes you so hungry!

    Best of luck,
    Kim
