This is an answer you may never know the honest answer for. I am sure it would take repeated yeast infections to do this.

    Emily,

Yes, yeast infections can cause PID if left untreated or unnoticed for any length of time. Antibiotics can cause a yeast infection (and most do in women) as well - so its a viscious cycle at times. A probiotic diet mainly helps in digestion, absorbtion of fats, calcium, and phosphorus and helps keep you "regular" intestinally (or so they say). Alot of women say the good bacteria in a probiotic (lets use yogurt as an example) will help with a yeast infection - I think its a crap shoot myself, but thats my opinion. Ask your doctor for some Diflucan and Monostat to help with the yeast infection - its always good to keep both on hand whenever you begin antibiotics since they cause yeast infections as well.

You can get PID from any bacteria.... and we women are prone to bacteria just because the way we are made physically. Bacteria left untreated turns to infection - the number one infection women get is a yeast infection however.

Just continue your antibiotics and if you suspect you have a yeast infection or aren't feeling better by Thursday, call your doctor and let them know whats going on. Better to be safe...

good - give it a few days and see how you feel. It can take up to 10 - 14 days for PID to resolve itself and in that process you can get a yeast infection due to the antibiotics (not all women get them on antibiotics, but most do, which is why I mentioned it). Diflucan takes a couple of days as well - in the meantime avoid tight underwear/clothing and baths - they can harbor more bacteria growth.

    Feel better soon.

Well Kim different Probiotics are in different strengths....believe me some can be as different as a valley to a mountain. Your on antibiotics so much that even after you get cleared up of yeast you may want a probiotic to help you.
