In DESPERATE Need Sympathetic Pain Doctor in Massachusetts
I desperatly need a GOOD, SYMPATHETIC Pain Doctor, who is not afraid of writing scrips for Pain Medications
I am sooooo sick of suffering and being told "There's not much else we can do"
Especially when I KNOW there is, at least for me.
When I was first diagnosed and in extreme pain, I was given Oxycontin & Percocet for the breaktrough.
Then I went into remission for about the last 2 years.
Now it is back with a VENGENCE!!!!
I had a lot of other treatments also in the beginning but NOTHING worked as well as the pain med treatments.
I don't know what it's like in other states but Massachusetts is UNBELIEVABLE to get ANYTHING for pain.
The original Dr I was seeing moved out of state and I just can't find ANYONE.
I'M DESPERATE................PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Here is some help....
I don't know of a pain mangement doctor in MA. But Dr. Friedman in Natick, MA does give out paiin medication to patients he trusts won't abuse them. I have seen him for 7 years. He's on the cutting edge of treatment for IC and he may be able to help you. Here is his information.
http://www.vasectomy-noscalpel.com/aboutus.html
This site does not even begin to describe everything he really does for bladder problems. But it gives you some background information on him and his staff.
Dr. Emanuel Friedman
Metrowest Urology
67 Union Street
Natick, MA 01760
508-655-4422
If he does not give you the help you need, he may be able to refer you to a pain management specialist.
Dr. Friedman is an IC Specialist

I can so relate to your frustration. I am going through the same thing ( I live North of Boston in ma) right now. I can't seem to get any doctor to realize that I need something for the pain. Right now I am prescribed ultram but when the pain is bad it is like popping a tictac. I wish I knew of a doctor in mass that could help. If you do find one please let me know and I will do the same. My thoughts and sympathy are with you.

I also am looking for a new pain doctor as my other pain doctor, Dr. Brookoff who moved to Denver, is not accepting out-of-town patients. I did get in touch with a pain clinic in Rochester, NY out of Strong Memorial. Even though I have not gone to them, I did talk with the clinic, and they said they do treat IC. I don't know exactly what they prescribe but since they are a pain clinic and treat IC, I would assume it probably involves pain medication. Like I said, I have not yet gotten an appointment as I am looking around for a pain doctor, but I just wanted to write about this option to the lady in Massachusetts if she cannot find a pain clinic who treats IC in her area. If you are interested, write back and I will give you their phone number.

Be Careful, Not all Pain Management Clinics will prescribe pain medication.
Not all pain clinics prescribe pain meds. You need to call ahead of time to make sure they do or do not do that before you travel all the way across the country to see them. Some only do interventional therapy which is like nerve blocks and internal pain pumps and nerve stimulators. Some pain clinics require to see you every 2 weeks to a month for refilling the precriptions if they do precribe pain meds. I don't know who would do this for you if you lived out of state. Maybe your primary care doc could work something out with the pain mangmement clinic that you find to refill your meds each month. I have made the mistake of thinking that all pain management clinic prescribe and then when I get there, I find out they don't. So I just wanted to put the word out to ask first and if they do prescribe meds, what would you do if you came from out of state.
Good Luck,
