ic newbie
Hello everyone!
I am going on March 6th to get a hydro distention test to verify ic. They are already 95% sure I have ic. I had what they call a bladder cocktail done a week ago because I was in so much pain. That helped alot. I also take priosed and prelief on a regular basis. I heard drinking milk helps. Does anyone know if thats true. I am not a big milk drinker but will try anything to prevent a major flare up. Appreciate any advice I can get.

I don't know if milk would actually prevent a flare up, but I would really try the IC diet and see if that helps. I have a major aversion to milk, ice cream, yogurt. But recently I started eating cottage cheese just to add some dairy to my diet and although I"m not crazy about the taste, it doesn't cause me to flare. The important thing is finding the right diet to minimize IC symptoms and be healthy!

I hope you feel better soon! Hopefully you DON'T you have IC!!Hugs and Wishes for Pain FREE days!!,

Welcome Resa
Glad you found us. It does sound like you have IC. I never heard of milk either but you really should try the IC diet. this might put you in the right direction http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/diet.html The majority of IC people are food sensitive. Hope you feel better soon.
Was diagnosed with IC in 1993 after extensive endometriosis and total hysterectomy.
MEDS: Attarax, Zantac, Zanaflex, Oxycontin, Lortab, Urimax and daily instillations of Lidocaine, sodium bicarbinate and heparin (lifesavers)
Have used Elmiron & Elavil w/o any improvement
Now have a possible dx of fibromyalgia. Working on confirming that or hopefully ruling it out

Hi, Resa and
to the IC Network.
The thing to look at on cheeses is whether it is "aged" or "processed" --- the label should have the information. American cheese is usually IC safe. Some ICers do well drinking milk; others find it doesn't make any difference.
