Thank you
Many Thanks to you all that replied to my first post. I really do appreciate all the advice. Wednesday I go get yet another sacral nerve block. Has anyone heard of neurostimulation? ? I am looking into this because I would like to get off the meds. Before this happened to me I wouldn't take an asprine for a head ack but now I am taking pain meds like oxycodone and such. I worry about what these meds even the ones that are not pain meds are doing to my brain and insides(liver, heart, ect).I have a really bad memory lost headacks, well I am sure you all know what comes with the territory of the perscription drugs we are given. I know I will probley have to be on something for the rest of my life but I would truely love to find other methods then perscription drugs. I am going to look into the IC diet I have tried in the past cutting things out of my diet but it really didnt have much effect. SO I am going to reseach the diet a little better and try to stick to it.So again thank you for your advice. God Bless

Melissa, I really wish you good luck. I really hope you find something to relieve you w/o all the meds. I know there are some gals on this site that use only supplements and herbal remedies and some have very good luck with that. I know taking all the pills can really bring you down. I am sitting here at work in a Hydrocodone fog and I feel like crap. And later I will be hung over.
Was diagnosed with IC in 1993 after extensive endometriosis and total hysterectomy.
MEDS: Attarax, Zantac, Zanaflex, Oxycontin, Lortab, Urimax and daily instillations of Lidocaine, sodium bicarbinate and heparin (lifesavers)
Have used Elmiron & Elavil w/o any improvement
Now have a possible dx of fibromyalgia. Working on confirming that or hopefully ruling it out

first i want to say no two people are the same.
I had two different types of nerve blocks (sorry forgot the names of them.) a few years ago. the first one helped for about a week the second one helped me for two weeks.
i stopped after that one because to have them done was so very painful and the Dr. had a very rude bedside manner and was trying to push the interstim on me.
after that i started having a great deal of lower back pain. We just figure out that because of me using those nerve blocks it may have caused some nerve damage to my lower part of my back. So please keep in mind that anytime you try something like this the risk can be more then you want later down the line.
one of our members Julie B wrote a great book on the IC diet. I wish it had been out when i was first dx. her book makes following the IC diet so much more easier. you can find her book in the ICN shop if you would like to take a look at it she also has a link to her site you can find the link in the ICN shop beside her book info. if you would like to take a look at it.
to find your trigger when it comes to food and drinks helps so much in controlling your IC.
There a lot of good treatments out there and there is some bad ones too. sadly no two people are the same. Keep searching hon until you find what works best for you.
sending you hugs and prayers

Are you referring to the InterStim? Thought I would ask before I comment on it....Dont want to jump the gun.
Like Rhonda said no two people are the same. And what works for some might not work for others. It can take a while to find the right combo that helps you. The diet alone when followed can be of a ton of help. Give it a little while longer. It does take a while....God grant me the serinity to withstand the days ahead!!!
