Angry This is so hard to deal with

Well lately I was just having symptoms of burning but sinse last night I've felt like I have to pee constently and pressure down there I hate this so much!! I don't know how yall deal with this. I don't know how I'm going to deal with this...walking..sitting everything hurts or is reaally uncomfortable. I have no clue what to do..how to start figuring out what can help. I'm going to my gyno tomorrow and I'm sure its going to be pointless. Anytime I try to bring information and ask lots of ques they tell me I'm making things worse by looking stuff up on the internet or tell me to see somebody else. I am just so at my wits end...I have to do all the work in figuring out what the deal is..why can't the doc have the answers. I don't know how much more crap I can take. How much can 1 person put up with in 1 lifetime. I am so depressed

Maybe multiple warm baths per day for 20 min. each time might help just a little until medical care can step in. This is a terrible time waiting for a diagnosis and treatment. Sorry, about having to bear this situation. Life isn't fair, which isa fact I have learned is certain. Best wishes for quick relief.

KATE, You probably should see a new doctor. I have had IC since 1969, and wasn't diagnosed until 2001. I belong to the group of women who were told our symptoms are all in our heads. Well, the doctors were wrong!!!!!!!!!!! How can you be making things worse by checking the internet? They are just too lazy to remain current with urology today. There is no excuse for this behavior today. You need to see a urologist who is knowageable about IC, and knows that it is real. To help your symptoms before your next doctor visit, watch your diet, drink only water, and take tums. I hope you will soon get the help that you need and deserve! Never give up!

Kate, I hope you can get in with a doctor soon. If you think after going to the doctor it is IC, there is a great list on this board of IC/pelvic pain docs and medical providers. The medical system seems to move so slow when one is suffering. Let us know how it goes.

Have you tried using lidocaine gel for the burning, pyruiduim or tums. I understand I burn all the time also.

I agree that you need to see a urologist. In the meantime, it could help you if you were to put yourself on the IC diet. You'll find it in the Patient Handbook (The link is at the top of this page). Even if it turns out that you don't have IC, the diet won't do you any harm.

Great advice everyone gave! The only bit of advice I could offer is that many receive temporary relief from the feelings of pressure by using a heating pad set on high or a hot water bottle. You may have to experiment with how hot this needs to be, or what position to apply the heat. Back when I was having symptoms, I found that a hot water bottle clasped between my legs provided the best relief (I felt a lot of my pain was urethral), but others have found that a heating pad on their lower back or lower abdomen provided the best relief.

The patient handbook has tons of great ideas for diet, self-help techniques for the pain/pressure, etc. It's well worth reading!

    Hope you feel better soon.

    Blessings,
    Lori

I know how hard this is to deal with--find a new doc who understands IC! In the meantime, Mr Hot Man(my heating pad is a life saver).

Thank you everyone so much. I can't imagine how people delt with this before there was the internet..they must have felt so alone.

Still not feeling good today but atleast my symptoms of feeling like I have to pee is off and on..not constent. Right now what I'm so tired of is the extreme sensitivity down there and random pains in my urethra and clit. I walk and sit like I have hemroids or something! Anyway I saw my gyno today and he was going to have me try a steroid cream to put down there but then changed his mind and wants me to try estrogen cream first (premarin). So we'll see if the estrogen helps at all..I bet it doesn't but who knows. What are yalls thoughts on steroid cream?

I am going to definately see a new urologist next time. For the time being though I think my gyno could possibly be helpful. I saw the list on this sight of good Uros in my area...its not a big list at all and no uros are listed in my city but there is one listed about 45 min away in a near by city..so I'll try there next.

EmilyRose~ I have tried pyridium...I switched to it during a REALLY bad flare and it didn't help at all. But maybe it could help now sinse I'm not flaring? I've been taking urogesic blue but it has stopped working for me. Does lidocaine gel work well for you? Have you been able to get rid of your burning?

Yea heat is great for the pressure and burning definately!
