Post I've got a date for a second bladder biopsy

I am going into hospital on the 6th dec for another cystoscopy and biopsy.I am dreading it as I was in a lot of pain last time.I've finally got to see my consultant not his registrar and he does think it is IC :woohoo: but he wants to do the op himself this time before I can start any meds.He also thinks there might be some endo in there that they missed before.I read in the Ic survival guide that they use an instill to calm the bladder and reduce the pain, but he said they don't do that here and i just have to drink loads and take paracetamol .Can any of you offer advice.I would be grateful as I'm feeling a bit anxious.

ask for pain meds to have after the hydro.. have your heating pad out to use when you get home.. If indeed you have IC aske about: Elmiron, hydroxizine, urised (for bladder spasms) some antidepressants help pain like elavil. I do not know what paracetamol is.
loog in the ic hand book for the diet. wishing you well and sending hugs and prayers.

    Why another biopsy?

If you already had biopsies taken, I am somewhat puzzled by the need to have more unless it has been years since the first one. The laboratory report should be available for your doctor to examine.

There is also a potassium sensitivity test, which would avoid your having to be hospitalized. It can be done in the doctor's office and is over within minutes.

It sounds like you are having some questions about having this done --- my suggestion would be to get a second opinion if you have doubts.

    Sending healing thoughts,

I think the med AJB mentioned is tylenol with codiene and she must live in England, Ireland, or Austraila. You shouldn't have to have this repeated before you can start meds. Jeepers. I wish they did instills, those help so many. We are here for you no matter what.
