Hi, MLB, I'm sorry it took me a bit to see your post. I have been running around like crazy the last couple of days - today I processed into the Red Cross, I'm going to become a volunteer at the local military hospital to kind of "pay back" a little of the care I've received.
This is a link that explains the study I am in, and also gives links where you can e-mail the primary investigators for the study. Although the study is primarily for incontinence, they are including some of us IC'ers in I guess for compassionate reasons.

This is a link that talks about Advanced Bionics (the company that makes the Bion) and more about the Bion itself:

I am in the trial and would be very happy to answer any questions you have - might take me a day or two to see them but I will answer, I promise!
Blessings,
Lori

Thanks Lori, it's for a friend, Lara. Can I ask if you have mainly pain, or is it freq/urgency? Thanks. She's looking for pain control.

Hi, MLB, you're welcome!
I have pain, and also had urgency/frequency. The Bion worked well to correct my frequency, but has had only a very small effect on the pain levels. They did tell me before the device was implanted, that it was not for pain. The Interstim, a similar device, is also not for pain.
My doctor made sure I knew before I had the Bion implanted that it was NOT FOR PAIN.
So if a patient has pain as the primary symptom I can not recommend either the Interstim or the Bion.
Hope this helps some, hope your friend feels better soon,
Blessings,
Lori
