Laura, sorry you not feleling well. I'm not agree with your doctor. It's crazy!
You have the yeast infection and they can do nothing?
You need be treating seriously very good and for long time. Your problems what you have now can be exatly from the yeast infection. Can you find another doctor to help you and who can treat you right?
Take care, please and let us know how you are.

    Laura,
I'm sorry that you are going through so much and not getting helped. What kind of pain do you have (pelvic/abd/vaginal)? What kind of doctor did you see? Have you been diagnosed with IC? Do you have bladder issues?
As for the smell, I think you should see your GYN for that. Could be yeast or other vaginal infections. If the doctor you saw is not doing anything to help you maybe you need to find another one. That has happened to many of us. I wish you the best, and please let us know a little bit more about your complaints.
    Take care.
    Love you all,
    Amy

Of course you are down. Instead of the Dr telling you that it is really NORMAL to be down with all that is going on. And not to mention they are not helping you. I would be down too. Good luck!

Get your gyno to check you for a vaginal bacteria infection. The yucky smell that seeps everywhere sounds like garderella (or something to that effect) or trich that must be treated with Flagyl. It will only get worse if you don't get help quickly. A yeast infection never smells that bad. Hope you get help soon.

I agree -- it sounds like you may have bacterial vaginosis or trich... they both produce a rancid, somewhat fishy odor down there that permeates everything. You should see your OB/GYN for that -- Rinnie is right; they can treat it with the antibiotic Flagyl.

As for the counseling, well -- I know it sounds insulting, but it may help. There are counselors out there that specialize in helping those of us with chronic illness and they can be quite good. I saw one for a year after diagnosis and found it to be helpful -- sometimes it was just nice to have an hour to myself to just vent, cry, whatever!

Yea sounds to me like u have a vaginal bacterial infection cause I have had them before and know the symptoms very well...They will either give u a cream insert medicine or pills to take...I was told though when I had it that it is sexually transmitted so I had to have my husband be treated for it also so we wouldnt' give it back and forth to one another...So call your OB cause they would want to exam u....good luck

Hi...are you sure the smell isn't urine? I know myself that because of the leakage, it smells so bad at times, I could get sick!! I have read that some IC people can have really foul smelling urine. I understand how you feel......the smell, the wetness, really depresses me. I feel so gross, it's not fair! Hope you are feeling better!!

NTHottie, you do not need to be sexually active or older to get Bacterial Vaginosis. This causes a terrible fishy odor as well as burning and soreness in the urethra and vaginal area. They would need to swab you (Not painful at all....very quick and you hardly feel it) and they will be able to tell you. A simple 5 day course of Metrogel vaginally normally does the trick. When I get smelly awful flares that do not go away. That's almost what it always is. They are usually triggered by hormones or a period ending. Also you should be tested for yeast just in case (might as wll if they are swabbing you anyway).
