    Red face feeling better

Hi, thank you for your good wishes, everyone, I am so much better. The insills do work after a while. I asked and the nurse said the URO makes it up herself, I know heparin and elmiron is in it. I am so thankful for the nurse. She is just wonderful with the cath, I hardly feel anything. The Dr. said too the UTI has been there for a while. So that's what it was. I read a lot of posts, and found ice works for me, ice on the peridium and heating pad in the back made me more comfortable. I do have the tramadol, and when it got really bad I took two instead of one. That helped., but still wish I had something for break-through pain sometimes. As much as I like my URO, but she wont give any pain meds at all.
Thanks everybody, hope you're well. My heart really goes out to you people with jobs or little kids to take care off, while you're flaring or have UTI. Take care of yourself.

Wonderful to hear you are feeling better! Thanks for the update.
    Kim

    Diagnosed August 2001

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)

Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for about 8 years now.

Glad to hear you are feeling better too. I have the same problem with my uro. When I am in severe pain and the tramadol doesn't work I just suffer through it also. Best wishes for you.

Thanks everyone. When I asked my URO about some pain meds (just a few pills until I got over the UTI an flare) for break through pain, she said she does not believe in it. She said too many people get so addicted and need more and more, and besides that, she is afraid they (DEA) may investigate her. That may all be true, but what are people supposed to do, when it really gets bad? On one hand I dont want to take strong pain meds and get used to it, its just when I felt so bad, I wish I had some. yes I recovered and I am doing reasonably well, and I did have the tramadol from my Rheumatologist, thank goodness, I dont know what I would have done without it.
