Jury Duty
I just recieved a questionnaire that is looking for potential jurors. It is some legal thing that they have to do to 'replenish the jury wheel". Whatever that means. It wasn't a summons, thank goodness.
There was a section that asked if there were reasons why one couldn't serve on a jury. I listed IC and said that at times I would need a restroom quite frequently, perhaps every 20 minutes. I did not attach a doctor's note. There was a direction that if there were a doctor's note to send it with the questionnaire. I didn't. I wonder what that will do to my chances at being on a jury. I've only been called once and I really would like to do it. I wasn't chosen for the case and we were dismissed.
The bathroom issue is so hard.

It might not effect your being called, but if you are, you can get that doctor's note and they should excuse you.

I always tell them I have I.C. and give my dr's name and #...I have never been called...
After suffering with IC for 40 years, my bladder was removed in Dec 05...YAY!

I served on Grand Jury here in NY state, and our term was for 3 months at a stretch, 1/month. One session we had went straight thru from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with NO break...not even for lunch! There were older people, diabetics, and of course me and my IC bladder, that bitterly complained. I understand now that our whining paid off and there are allowed potty breaks between cases. Actually, I enjoyed the whole jury duty thing(except for the bad potty day!) and can't figure out why people don't like to do it.

I was (almost) picked twice, but when I was called up by the Judge, the first time I didn't have a Doctors excused, I was able to use my IC and once I explained to him what it was he said "that sounds dreadful, very painful; you are excused!" The next time, was after one of my surgeries, so I had a doctors note so all I had to do was go on in the Court house and turn that in to them. That was about 5 years ago.

Jury Duty
My Dr. filled out the form for my medical excuse and we sent it on in. No appearance required. My husband also has the forms filled out by my Dr. since he is my primary caregiver and needs to be able to help me if I need him and he had no problem either and wasn't required to show up once they had the form. Hope it helps. PEACE and JOY!
