Do I have Vulvodynia? I hurt for no reason around the outside of my vagina. Especially after sex. It can take me weeks or it to stop hurting. And then maybe good for a day or so, hen hurt again without the sex! Slight itching, from time to time. It's not a yeast infection, it's not an STD. I'm thinking I have Vulvodynia! What do you think?

There is some controversy about using hydro cortisone, as it can cause thinning of the skin after a while, leading to more senstitivity. You probably need to be evaluated to find out just what form of vulvodynia you have. There is a cyclical form that is actually caused by overgrowth of yeast on the skin (that's me) and flares
up at the menstrual time. I've had it for more than 20 years and didn't know what it was. Theory is it's triggered by hormone fluctuations. Going on hormones helps now. I really watch my sugar intake as I'm prone to systemic yeast. At any rate, have a good talk with your gyno and do lots of research on your own as lots of doctors have never heard of it (like IC)and it can be hard to
diagnose. Also a low oxalate diet can help as can taking Calcium citrate which neutralizes the oxalic acid in urine.

You can live with this, and I know how miserable it can be. My very best wishes to you and hang in there until you get a correct diagnosis.

I too had the same vaginal irritation and I was told it was not a vaginal yeast infection by my gyno. Had it for a year and a half until I finally found out it was systemic yeast. Went on an anti-yeast diet and took nystatin and it went away. It also helped my bladder. My IC is in remission if that's what you want to call it.
