That was my question when I was diagnosed a year ago!! First question I asked!! I've been on Elmiron since April 2004 and can happily report that I have had no noticeable hair loss. liz

This morning after taking a shower and finding a bigger than normal (for me) clump of hair in the shower I was going to ask this very question! Then when I started drying my hair, everytime I ran my fingers thru it more hair than usual was coming out. I;m wearing black pants and they were covered in hair. My hair is at my shoulders and I know it's normal to lose a little tiny bit when washing or styling it, but this is more than usual. Has anyone else experienced this, or have you experienced this doll77?
Oh yeah, and I've been on Elmiron for 3 months now and just in the past 3 -4 days I've noticed this.
Thanks for any input!

I've been on Elmiron since I was 16 (2000) and have noticed that my hair has gotten thinner and more comes out when I brush it or am in the shower. In no why am I close to balding, lol, but it's not as thick as it used to be
I recently started taking something called Anacaps, which are vitamins from the drugs store for people who have fragile hair or/and loosing hair and it seems to be helping

I've been on it for just over a year, had hair loss (not an extreme amount) start a few months into it, but its slowed down considerably, I didnt get bald spots or anything.

I took Elmiron for ~3-4 months and lost so much hair that I decided to stop taking it. Everytime I touched my head a handful of hair would come out, although it did not cause bald spots. My hair dresser estimated that I lost approximately 1/3 of my hair. I had a similar experience with other medications several years before, so maybe it is just me. Apparently it is a very rare side effect that most people do not experience.
I would not let this deter you from trying it, assuming that your doctor thinks that you should. The benefits can far out weigh the risks and the vast majority of people do not have problems. Also, the hair loss is not permanent. It will grow back, so it is worth a shot!
I really hope it works for you!!

I've been on Elmiron two years and no hair loss. I probably could have benefitted from a small amount of hair loss, since I have unbelievably thick hair and it grows like a weed...LOL

Yes, I had the hair loss with Elmiron too. Stopped it due to that and the other side effects. It grew back.

I had hair loss and did not notice any relief while taking Elmiron. That was 7 years ago and I would really like to try it again, but with no insurance... errr, well, it's not gonna happen.
