Weird Question...........
Good Morning Everyone, I was just wondering if anyone else felt this way or it is just me
. Weird Qeustion but might as well just ask or I will never know
. After having intercoarse I feel terrible. Okay after my boyfriend does his thing( I will just put it that way )
I have a terrible pain on both sides. My boyfriend has just been tested for almost everything, 6 tubes of blood and urine samples for his legs. He is fine but it just seems like his STUFF is no good and it hurts me afterwards. I may be goofy but please talk if anyone else feels this way or has any ideas.
Thank you
Tanya

I think what you are feeling is "normal" since you have IC. Sex and IC don't always go hand in hand. I know I get pain and burning during and after intercourse. Have you tried the lubricants? I use an ice pack afterwards and that really helps. Different postions can help also.

Hi tanya
The thought that it might be the ejaculate itself never crossed my mind but nothing would surprize me about this condition. Something certianly creates pain. I think this facet of ic is the most difficult to deal with in a relationship. The ice pack is my friend for lots of times, not just after sex, though I haven't tried the frozen condom thing yet. If the truth be known I have not a clue about which kind would be best to use having had no need of them since '80 when I had my tubes tied. But I do plan on trying it. Hope you have better days (and nights) soon.

Sperm is full of potassium...right? Could that be it???
30 year old Mother, Midwife, Birth Doula, Herbalist, and Massage Therapist with sudden onset of IC approx. 2/16/05 (after a PAP smear and routine gynecological exam). I tried a HUGE list of natural and alternative treatments (including Cystoprotek, Desert Harvest Aloe, Aloe gel, Glucosamine/Chondroitin, L-Argenine, Quercitin/Bromelain, Marshmallow Root...etc) for the first 9 months of having IC, without much relief, until I finally researched and started Elmiron.
My experience:
~Previously took Elmiron 100mg three times a day
(9/29/05-7/06)
~Experimented with dosage (1-2 Elmiron a day recapped into a plain gelcap) and did well with occasional mild flares. (7/06-9/09)
~Stopped all together at the 1 year mark (9/29/06) for 10 days. Still felt good, with low-level symptoms.
~Decided to go back on it (10/16/06) to see if another year on it will bring me into full (zero symptoms) remission. Currently taking 1-2 pills a day, recapped into a plain gelcap.
~ 6/08...Tried to go off Elmiron again, had huge flare at the 3 week mark, went back on 100mg once a day for maintenance.
-I went off Elmiron for 2 months due to pregnancy and had a complete relapse of IC symptoms to pre-diagnosis levels of pain/frequency. I then went back on Elmiron at 10-12 weeks, but was unable to take it further due to severe morning sickness. The 2nd/3rd trimesters were MUCH better IC-wise, and postpartum is the best I have felt in years. I am no longer on Elmiron for now.
-20 month postpartum remission from 4/17/09 to 12/10/10.
-Out of remission after a pap smear on 12/10/10. Pap smears are obviously the main IC trigger for me. Currently trying to cope with loss of the remission.
Also doing:
~Sugar-free/gluten free and strict IC diet (With an emphasis on organic, alkaline and whole foods)
~Prenatal DHA/Fish oil supplement
~Vitamin D supplement
~Culturelle probiotic

I've actually read that some women can be allergic to their partner's semen. Have you ever tried it with a condom? Do you get the same symptoms?

It could be anything that was already said but one other (or maybe a few other) thoughts I have are
During ejacultion men usually at their biggest...which means more pressure especially at your urethra. If you say you are feeling it on both sides maybe your musscles are reacting to that.
I guess the best thing you can do is experiment and see if you can avoid that pain somehow.
Good luck!Faith, Hope, and Love,
Katrina

I too have heard of women being allergic to their partners ejaculate. In my opinion, I would rather go without than use a condom. I have never liked them!
I usually jump up and run to the bathroom and void and then push down on my urethra in case anything has gotten in there as a way to get it out. This seems to help me.
Good luck! What I wouldn't give for a glass of Orange Juice!

It's normal to have pain after sex just because of the rubbing during his thrusting -- doing forget, the urethra and bladder are separated from the bladder and urethra by just a thin strip of muscle, so movement inside can hit the bladder and urethra and cause pain in many ICers. Use a lot of lube, and definitely try an ice pack after if burning is an issue. Taking a Pyridium (or other pain medication) 30-60 min before the act can help too. Also, some of the pain can come from tense pelvic muscles -- so try taking a warm bath before the act and try to relax.
As for condoms, yeeeee -owwwwch. If you use them, in my experience, don't buy the ribbed kind, don't buy the pre-lubed kind as the nonoxynol-9 in that lube causes major pain for me, and make sure that silly rolled end is all the way at the base of his penis (he can even hold it there, because that rolled part can really irritate the opening of the urethra and vagina).****

*Diagnosed with severe IC in 2004
*Also diagnosed with PFD, fibromyalgia, chronic myofascial pain, IBS, migraines, allergies/asthma, dermatographism
*Kept trying a million different treatments for all these things until I found what works, and I am doing okay these days with the help of a cocktail of medications and the InterStim, which was first placed in 2007. [I have had 2 revisions - one in 2010 when my battery died and had to be replaced, and one complete replacement (lead and generator) in 2012 after a fall on my stairs caused my lead to move.]
*Current meds include Atarax (50mg at night), Lyrica (150mg twice a day), Xanax (0.5mg at night and as needed), Zanaflex (4mg at night), hydrocodone (10/325, every 6 hours as needed), Advair, Nasonex, Singulair (10mg at night), oral contraceptives, home instills containing Elmiron and Marcaine (as often as I need to do them).

I agree with this.

If you are enjoying sex then yeah, you wouldn't feel pain until after the afterglow faded.
Perhaps you could try being on top? if you controlled the movement a bit more you might be able to tell better what hurt and what didn't.
Yeah the ribbed kind is VERY bad VERY VERY BAD! No ribbed! EVER! (HURTS!!!!)

Thank you All again for responding. My pain is not down in my vagina area after sex, it's one one side or the other. A Pain in the side that makes me crunch over. I guess With IC anything can happen.
