Didn't think I would prove the rule!

Well, I noticed that I hadn't been posting around here as much as I used to these past few weeks... it's because I'm doing better.

For those of you being newly diagnosed, believe them when they tell you that those who are feeling better don't generally post! (Though I'm still going to try to hang out, especially in the diet forum... especially when I'm hungry, which is always! lol)

Anyway, though I am far from completely better, diet and elmiron seem to be helping me, and while I still have daily pain, it's on a level where I can do most things.

Last weekend I went to the Renaissance Festival (dressed up and everything!) And this weekend, I'm going to Los Angeles (an 8 hour drive-- and I'm not sure how that'll turn out, but hopefully better).

I usually don't miss class anymore unless I want to....

Basically, I'm managing, and I just wanted to thank you all for your support and give some hope to everyone who's new. Now... if I could only get to a point where I could eat Chinese food... lol!

Yay, yay, yay!!!! Thank you for coming back to share how good you are feeling.
    Kim

    Diagnosed August 2001

Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)

Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for about 8 years now.

It sure is good to hear success stories!! Glad you are doing so well, and I pray that you continue to do well. Have a good weekend, enjoy yourself!!

Isn't it nice to be back in life again??? It was for me too, and I thought that I'd never ever be able to again.

I'm curious, how long were you on the Elmiron before it started to make a difference? It's been two months for me so far and I'm hopeful I'll be one of the early ones.

I've been on it three months and already it's helping. BUT I have a "mild" case of IC. Plus I micromanage my diet like nobody's business!

LA was great. Matt and I went to Hollywood, the La Brea Tar Pits (we're science nerds), the Santa Monica Pier, Venice Beach, and the Getty Museum, and my IC more or less behaved itself the whole time. Unfortunately, as of today, Spring Break transforms into Spring Papers.
