    Power Pudding and other constipation strategies

    I've just put up a new ICN Self Help Tip of the Month... this one on the oh so embarassing and delicate condition of constipation. Honestly, if having an IC flare wasn't bad enough... throw in constipation and bowel spasms and this can lead to one irritated bladder, sleepless night and depressed IC patient. But, there is hope and great things that you can try that might help... including... "Power Pudding!" Since so many people ask for the Power Pudding Recipe.... it seemed reasonable to do a whole column on it.

    Ummm... I would normally say "enjoy"... but in this case... I think I'll say... well... darn it... I can't think of something funny to say except... errr... "wishing you many comfortable returns!" errr... welllllll...

    My daughter and I have a constipation problem and have found Benefiber is better than Metamucil as far as consistency goes. You can desolve it in your warm drink in the morning and there is no taste or consistency issues. It is just like drinking water. We get it at Publix.

    Ok, I tried this recipe and it wasn't too bad (although it looks awful) and it was effective. I got to thinking a variation I might try would be canned pumpkin instead of the pears. Pumpkins have a lot of fiber and they are full of antioxidants and vitamins. I think I will add a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg also.
