Shennan - Are you the one who spoke recently about being referred for an MRI to check your spine, etc.?
Kim
Diagnosed August 2001
Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)
Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)
My IC story: http://www.ic-network.com/patientstories/kim.html It's very outdated now. I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for about 8 years now.

Well, I hope it is something that can be treated so that some of your discomfort will go away.

kim,
they want to inject steroids into my back...
i have to get an okay from my urologist. i only have 1 1/4 kidneys.
damage from vesicoureteral reflux as a child.
i am scared to get injections into my back.
i am having the second mri because i am having numbness in my right arm/hand/fingers. it feels cold and aches.
they can also do nerve blocks for my disc tear and arthrosis.
i think the arthrosis has something to do with the p-substance--like ic.
gonna search more, but my arm hurts and it is hard to type. i am right-handed, but i use the mouse on my left hand. it helps a little...
the two conditions are seperate, though.
of course, i have the ic and heavy scarring/fibrosis in the bladder.
i do have an interferential home unit, which is nice, and it does help with the pain a little, in my back. my arm and bladder don't really get relief. still going pee-pee 20-30x a day. get terrible heachaches from detrol/ditropan/ib stat spray. the belladonna liquid drops seem to work the best, except when i od on the drops--makes me high.

Yes, I had to have back surgery in 1998 due to this. I had a CT of the cervical spine earlier this month, because of some other problems, thankfully things were "normal" for what they were looking at, but my disks in my upper back (I think its the area of C4-6) is giving my problems, having sharp pain in the neck and head, they are going to start to give me steroid injections soon, but they have to check with my cardic doctor to make sure my INR is ok.
