Enough With The Snow Already!!!
We're getting buried in the white stuff here! It's coming down at a rate of about 1" per hour, currently have around 8-9 inches on the ground and it is predicted to keep it up until sometime tomorrow. We could get 20 inches before this is over. A white Christmas is always nice but this is beyond ridiculous! It's a fine powdery snow and the winds are going to be strong tomorrow so it's going to be blowing and drifting like crazy. Our daughter is supposed to be flying home tomorrow but we have serious concerns about her flight being cancelled.
For all of you who are just "Dreaming" of a White Christmas, there is more than enough here for everyone. All of the snow in my driveway is FREE---please come and take all you want!!! Please!!!
Merry Christmas!

Nice try Annie!
Thanks Annie,
Maybe a little bit of it after the holiday madness is over and we are all home and the generator is running. But for now, look to the west for takers.
We will get our share in New England soon enough. Please keep the wind currents spinning counter clockwise.....oh, great, just heard the "stormwatch" update at 11PM....what?????????????

Guess I'd better stop complaining about the rain and fog --- seems we have one or the other here in Oregon.

It's hard to belive that you guys are frezzing to death over there & all that snow for Christmas. I would love to see a white Chrissy.
Whilst over here in Australia we are sweeting it out in bliztering heat. It's 40 degrees ( not sure what that is in US terms???) but very hot. The air conditoner is on full bore all day & night. Over here you think Christmas you thing Singlets, thongs, sun screen & swimming in nice cool water. I think that is why alot of people tend to have alot more relaxing Christmas these days, it just too hot in most places. Although Christmas day is going to only be about 30 degress or so here in Mildura so that sounds nice.

Here in Memphis, we didn't get snow from this system. Instead, we got about 2 inches of sleet yesterday. It is pretty but it is so cold and not as much fun for the kids as snow is. I've seen my neighborhood kids trying to throw ice balls at each other. Ouch...Now that will leave a mark. The temps are reported to be very low (not much over 20) for the next 3 days. I guess that means the roads will stay icy and we will be white for Christmas.
Merry Christmas to all
And to all
A good ice ball fight.

Digging Out
It's finally over here! What a mess!!! The Weather Channel is still broadcasting segments from this metro area. Most businesses are closed including the Air Force base here. A few stores and malls have reopened but, unless you have 4WD, you're not going to make it there. Retailers are really going to be hurt. This area got about 20" from this storm. It would have been more, but for a couple of hours in the middle of the night we got freezing rain that compacted the snow, then it changed back to snow.
No one took me up on my offer for free snow!
You can't blame a gal for trying, though.
Fortunately, several years ago my hubby was thinking like the New Englander that he is when he bought our snow blower, a giant one with chains that will go through 2 feet of snow. He has the driveway clear and we can get out now. Our daughter's flight has been delayed but we are hoping she will still be able to get in here today. The drive to the airport (fortunately we have 4 WD) will take at least a couple of hours because the major highway to that area is closed and is a parking lot of abandoned cars. Surface streets will be the only way to get there. I was going to go along to the airport but, since it will take a couple of hours each way, I'm staying home and will try to get some holiday cooking done.
Andrea, after you send some heat to Jess in frozen Wisconsin, would you send some to me? This winter weather just doesn't agree with me anymore. I'll take the summer heat any day!
After 42 years of service to the Air Force, my hubby is retiring in just 11 days. We have some obligations here we have to take care of in January and then....we are SO outta here! Anyone know a good uro who winters in the South (or even the Caribbean---I could handle going there a few months out of the year)?
From this winter wonderland, I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy & HEALTHY New Year!

Annie...What a mess!!!! I guess I need to stop complaining about our sleet.
BTW...I want to thank you and your husband for your service to this country. I am an Air Force Brat and know first hand the sacrifice that families make when they are service families. I hope your retirement is everything that is good and wonderful in this life. After 42 years of service, you certainly deserve it to be. Congratulations and may you be blessed.

Yes, thank YOU for you and your husband's service. It takes a spouse to make that happen too! I too am a Air Force retiree of 20+ years.
We have little to no snow here in Minnesota. I was green with envy to see all that snow in Ohio and other states, arrrchchc! We sleigh ride with my horses pulling, and have not had a decent sleigh ride for two years now. Winter wonderlands are so much fun, not too mention pretty. But! I agree with all above; it's pretty as long as you or your kids don't have to haul somewhere. Staying home is fine too! Merry One to all. Leah.Leah in Minnesota

PS. Today I made some white beans and they were so GROSS!. Does anybody have a secret something that you know is safe to put on these things? I love baked beans but of course that's got tomatoe paste, sugars, brown sugars and a thousand preservatives in it not too mention bacon. Any ideas? Thanks!
