Nc
Hello,
I am in Laurel Hill, NC about 2 1/2 hours from Durham, NC. I am 38 years old and have had IC since I was 23 years old. Sorry it has taken me a while to get back with both of you but I have been sick. I also got a early Christmas present my husband is losing his job on Jan. 15, 2005. Have been very depressed about this since I am not working. I did get some good news I called my lawyer to tell him about my husband losing his job and he got me a hearing for my disability on Jan. 5. I hope I can get it. My husband is self employed and does a unique service for a yarn mill so he will not be able to draw unemployment that is the draw back of being self employed. Do either of you have any other illnesses besides IC? I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, hitial hernia, GERD, mitral valve prolaspe, high blood pressure, high pulse rate, and was born with out the major pectoral chest muscle on the left side, and major depression. I think something went way wrong when I was a fetus LOL!!! I went to my urologist today and he is upping my nortriptyline form 10 mg twice a day to 25 mg twice a day. He ask me was it helping I said no but I have been having very vivid dreams from it the kind you can reach out and touch. I took amitriptyline for years and got to fat I went from a size 9 to a 14 with no problem. I had never had weight problems until antidepressants. My doctor tried me back on the amitriptyline but it caused me to have a very high pulse rate like 133 so I had to get off of it that is why I am on nortriptyline. Well so much for my jabbering. Write me back and let me know a little about the two of you.

hi
Broken_Smile: I also have Endometriosis. I had it removed from my ovary in Sept 04 by laparoscopy. Been told there is some sort of connection between IC and Endo.
I am having a Cystoscopy Thursday (Dec 23, 2004). I am very nervous and scared. I am mostly scared about what he will find and how painful it will be. He prescribed a Valium to take before the procedure, but that is it.
Anyway, this website is so comforting. It is also comforting to know there are people from NC with the same problems.

Hello everybody from NC!!!!
I just went to my disability hearing today my lawyer said all went well but I am not counting my chicks before they hatch. My lawyer said since the judge didn't make me talk to the vocational rehab person that was a good sign that I will be approved. The judge said he was going to go over my case file and would contact my lawyer and me when he reached a decision. I was used as a guinna pig because I had my trial by statilite tv my lawyer and I were in Lumberton, nc and the judge was in Charlotte, NC and this was the first one my lawyer had done and the second one for the judge. It will be interesting to see how this works out. My lawyer said by me be the guinna pig it got my case heard 4 to 5 months earlier. This worked out great for me since my husband is losing his job January 15. I figure at least I will have a answer one way or the other and then I will do what I have to do. was so sick today I had to ask my judge and lawyer if it would be possible for me to get up and go to the bathroom during trial as I was in a flare and the judge for me to tell them and they would put it on hold until I could go the bathroom. I think my hearing last about and hour and I had to leave out about 3 times during the trial. Everyone please put in a prayer for me because I can not imagine how I am going to work if I get denied. I will keep all of you updated.

I hope you will feel much better soon. I wanted to write in regards to disability. I filed and received an answer within a couple of months. I won the disability. I have an excellent doctor who wrote a great letter as to why I should get disability. I hope you nwill hear something soon, and that you will win the case. The judge in my case pretty much felt sorry for me, he said in the trial "that someone as young as you have to live the rest of your life with something that there is no cure", I hope everything works out for you.

Thanks Jackie3
Hi Jackie3,
Thanks I need some encouragement right now. I am still waiting to hear something. I think the waiting is the hard part. I glad you were able to find a compassionate doctor and judge. I have yet to find a compassionate urologist. My family doctor is more compassionate than my urologist. I wish I could find one in NC. Well I am feeling a little bit better but drained. I hope all is well with you.
