anyone have a problem with gum???
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to follow this IC diet the best I can.. I know that aspartame is a problem.. However, I'm always chewing gum and all the gum I chew has apspartame in it.. I'm wondering if this might be contributing to my flairs..
Thoughts..

It's possible... I know I'm very sensitive to artificial sweeteners, and so I chew gum with regular sugar in it if I'm going to chew any. I tend not to chew much gum though. Try chewing regular gum for a while and see if it makes any difference. It might! I know it seems like one piece of gum wouldn't have much aspartame in it but it just might be enough to upset your bladder.
Good luck

If you are chewing gum because of a dry mouth, try Biotine gum, its sold in the toothpaste section. I don't think it has aspartame - but the good thing is that one or two pieces really help for awhile - I'm not using near as much gum!

Hey Shennan.... I certainly know where Hubbardston is!! When I was a teenager I had some friends from work who lived there and I was constantly driving around the Gardner/Hubbardston/Westminister/Ashburnham/Winchendon area
I also know where Pittsfield is but don't know that area quite as well, of course.
How funny that you know the area... the world gets smaller and smaller every day
Anyway, here's the link for the Interstitial Cystitis Association (ICA)'s Physician Registry:
http://www.ichelp.org/AskTheDoctor/p...nregistry.html
You just type in your information, and in a few days a Patient Advocate will email you a complete listing of docs who treat IC patients for your state. It's great
Hope this helps!!!****
