On August 27 I had a UTI that showed e-coli bacteria in my urine test. Typical symptoms with it as I have had many, but had not had one in about 6 years thankfully. I took Macrodantin for 5 days and things seemed better. About a day or 2 after I finished the meds, the urgency symptoms returned. Not typical though as there was no burning, urine was clear and no bleeding. I took some Pyridium for the symptoms but it did nothing really. Again they subsided temporarily. I thought possibly because I had taken some Advil and Maxalt for a migraine. They returned again however and continued for a day or so when I finally returned to urgent care. I was told my urine was neg. for bacteria and to drink cranberry juice and was given Urispas. I took one dose that night which took a while to work and made me feel weird. The symptoms were gone in the morning, but have since returned periodically. I had already found this board and tried following the diet which for the most part makes me symptom free. (Ate string cheese and carrots yesterday and one of them flared it up again. Yikes!) I have and appointment with a uro I had seen previously for next week so I guess eventually I will get some answers. My GP seems to think I am silly to think I may have IC and cultured my urine which of course came back today negative. Pyridium provides some relief durng the episodes not all and I have no burining during urination. I do have terrible pressure that keeps me awake at night sometimes. As long as I keep my diet bland I have no symptoms. What do you all think? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Lacey,

I dont think your silly as some of your symptoms sound like it could be. I am glad youre seeing a urologist they should be able to determine if your symptoms are IC related. Here is a link to the handbook http://www.ic-network.com/handbook/ is havs alot of helpful information. Good luck ,
Kelly

:welcome: to the ICN. I think you're doing the right thing by seeing the urologist. I hope he/she can figure out what's going on for you!

I agree that you need to see a urologist.
