I've seen this mentioned a few times. Can someone tell me more?
Dianne - I don't have any info, but you might try plugging it into the ICN search page:

I take 2-3 tablets of cornsilk daily. I don't know if it helps, but it sure hasn't hurt. My uro said o.k. to this. It comes in capsule form and actually, when you swallow it, has the aftertaste of corn. Some people use the actual cornsilk right from the husk and brew tea from it. It is supposed to soothe the urinary tract. As I mentioned, my uro saw no problem with taking this or marshmallow ( in pill form) He also recommended ********* ( a sugar) and gave me some info on that (helps e-coli from binding to your bladder for UTI's) I am prone to them. So far no problems. Hope this helps. liz

Sorry if I mentioned the sugar product. It is not a brand name; it is manufactured by many different companies. Did not know it was a specific I couldn't mention. Sorry!

Hi Dianne, I keep cornsilk tea bags in my cupboard and use them when I have urethral irritation and/or burning. It is a diuretic also but for me, it helps when its not major pain or burning, just when its minor. I have seen it in caps, but make sure its only cornsilk, theres others w/extra ingredients.

You can get it at different health food stores, Vitamin Outlet/Better Health stores is one. A lot of little hole in the wall health food stores should have it too. Its just the "hair" stuff we pull off the corn when we shuck it. :)

My natrapath puts corn silk in my tonic- it's supposed to sooth the urinary tract... I certainly didn't know it was available in tablet form or tea though.... (Although probably not here since I live in the Australian backwater... )
