I stronly believe that mental healing works just as well as all of the pain meds that we all take. For me, I try to keep myself distraced so that I dont dwell on the pain that I am in. Its the small things like getting on this site, reading a book, or holding a conversation. There are times when all I can do it sit down, put my face in my hands, and cry "why me?" It is these times that my IC feels the worst. Everything is inteseified when you really THINK about it. Of course, there will be times when no matter what I do I can still feel the pain, but in the end, I know it will pass. It always does. Usually within a day or two i am back to my old self, and having IC doesn't cross my mind all day. Our brains are far more powerfull than any pain meds, thank God for that!

I strongly agree!!!! (hehe) I do believe that the mind can make a huge difference on how bad we feel! There are many ways to help yourself feel better through your minds own thought. Visualization is one I like, (where you visualize your pain and make it dissapear or heal) I also enjoy medition on possitive thinking! Sometimes I will journal things I am thankful for to get my mind focussing on what is good in life. There is also laughter and distraction (such as tv or a good book) that help a lot.

There are many ways the mind can help lesson the pain ans symptoms....it takes effort but it does work!!!!!!!

I agree with you, I think your mind can help your pain. I find that my pain gets worse when I give in to it.. Sometimes you can't help but give it to it , when it hurts to bad, I also find prayer helps keep your mind strong. Can someone direct me to the link to start a new thread?? I cannot find it... thank you!!

I agree. Mind and body connection is very powerful. Prayer and keeping positive makes a difference and helps soooo much!

Mental strength is an excellent topic! I strongly agree that it helps. I just wish I could figure out a way to have good mental strength ALL the time.

I agree. That is why most, if not all, drugs have to be tested against a placebo. When I used to work for a pharmacy that supplied drugs for nursing homes it was VERY common to have 90% of the patients on some type of placebo. They even have orange or green, depending on what the patient thinks it is for. :lmao: The mind is a powerful thing.
