for moderate to medium flares; I imagine the pain or whatever discomfort I feel and focus on it. Iknow it sounds weird but it works for me because what happens when I flare is that I sometimes struggle against it and feel fear which makes it worse. Then I ask myself, "What is pain?" Anything I come up with turns out to be a description only. "It feels like"....... I have some successes in getting the flare to leave this way. On the other hand if it looks like it will get a lot worse into the higher levels of pain, I take a small amount of the prescription pain medication the doctor gave me. And if I've caught it in time that will work; otherwise I take more within the prescribed levels. I've been able to cut down on pain meds that way.
I hope this helps someone.
With love,

I've been taking "yoga with hypnotherapy" classes - 1 hour of yoga, followed by 1/2 hour of guided meditation/self-hypnosis. I feel so good after the classes! Inspired by that, I recently bought on Amazon.com a CD by Belleruth Naparstek called "Healthful Sleep", it really helps me go back to sleep if I wake up during the night:)
