View Full Version : question about cysto/hydro results?
I had this procedure done back in aug and my uro said my bladder only held 250cc. He said I didn't have any ulcers or pinpoint bleeding but he could tell my bladder was contracted down. Would you still consider this ic just because of my bladder pain and the fact that my bladder capacity was only 250cc's? I had heard that you could actually have something wrong with your back and it could affect your bladder. Any input? thanks KEC

Well, I'm not sure. I do know, however, that there is a subset of IC patients who show no pinpoint bleeding and no ulcers, yet have all of the symptoms of IC. These patients also respond to medications and treatments for IC, so are generally considered by specialists to have IC despite not having the classic signs. You may be one of these patients.
However, you need to discuss the results further with your doctor -- there are probably many other things that can go wrong, and your doctor is the best person to ask about this.
Good luck :grouphug:

Was your procedure done in a hospital with anesthesia? If your bladder will only stretch to 250 cc under anesthesia, that is very small. I do think it would be a good idea to discuss the results with your doctor. Not every IC patient will show the classical signs during a hydrodistention.
Sending healing thoughts,
Donna
He said my bladder only held 250 before running out. He said he aggressively stretched it to 500 or 600 ccs. I had absolutly no pain when I woke up and no pain for about 4 days, than the pain gradually came back over a 2wk period. Kathy
