Hello Everyone,
Chainsaw (Kim) here. I was wondering if anyone suffers with acid reflux or heartburn after eating or drinking something you shouldn't? I ate some neopolitian ice cream and vanilla bean ice cream a couple hours ago, then the acid reflux and heartburn started. I took a Pepcid Complete, but it hasn't kicked in yet. I guess this should be a warning to me to go COLD TURKEY. I have noticed that since I am being treated for IC, I tend to get acid reflux more often when I eat or drink something I should stay away from. My husband is no help. He just says "just eat it" or "just drink it". I even carry the list of foods from ic network in my purse but I never look at it. I wish that list of foods came in a small book form. That way I would not be carrying around all of those papers stapled together in my purse. Also, would it be possible to keep me in your prayers that I can go Cold Turkey on this stuff? I was thinking, maybe if I tell myself "do this for that child you will be going to get in China in about 6 months" maybe that will help me. What ya think? Thank you for your help.

Good luck with your diet....I had to tell myself and think of all the pain it would cause me If I ate it or drank it helped some.. I was diagnosed with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD).But I really never had heart burn just alot of stomach pains.
Eating certain things cause more acid.If your symptoms continue I would talk to your doctor. Congrats on your upcoming addition to family.
huggs,
kelly

I like Kelly basically just had stomach pains....and I thought I was being pretty strict on my IC diet on the time I got diagnosed...guess not strict enough for my body. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I have noticed an increase in acid reflux these last months. My Uro told me just last week to start taking Tagamet (over the counter). He said it is an acid reducer and may help with my IC as well. I bought a box, but haven't tried it yet.

I do notice an increase in acid reflux/heartburn when I eat ice cream. I just told my husband last night after having some, that I may have to say good-bye to ice cream, even vanilla. Thats just one more food to check off my list!

Kim, best of luck in getting a child in China. How exciting!

Hi Chainsaw, I've had "gerd" for a number of years, and react to different foods differently..while some foods will cause heartburn (had ONE attack that I honestly thought was a heart attack)...usually dairy products bother me by causing a phelm-like sensation in my throat, which is very bothersome, and affects my voice,as I feel I continually need to "clear my throat".....The "creamora" that I ONCE used, (but no longer do as coffee's not my best friend in the morning or any other time for that matter)..was a huge offender.I guess like IC, gerd has different triggers and different reactions....
Do I still eat ice cream?..YUP...Some things ya just gotta have every now and then. Good luck in yet another battle....Donna L
