This is probably going to sound very strange :dizzy: . Since I don't have a diognosis of ic yet I have no idea if others get this. I remember at the start of my bladder troubles I began to get this sensation after urinating that there was either a air bubble or tiny drop if urine still in my urethra. I don't recall ever feeling this before the bladder troubles began. After urinating if i sit down, sometimes I have to lean forward, it seems to get rid of that feeling (mostly). I can actually feel whatever it is, an air bubble or drop move out of my urethra, then i feel more comfortable again. It's now become some what of a habit, to sit down after to get rid of that feeling. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? :hmm:

You know, I never would have been able to put it into words, but you hit the nail right on the head. I consider it to be a bit of urethral irritation. It almost feels as if the urethral opening might be swollen. Yes, I get it too.

I have to change positions to completely empty. I don't know that my feeling is what you're describing, but my uretha is extremely tiny. I have to rock back and forth. Its annoying. My mom asked me once why I didn't "squat" in public restrooms. I gave her a little "lesson" on what ICers had to go through just to pee.

Yes, I get this all the time.... :) I'm glad you put it into words! I've often said that it feels like something is in my urethra after urination but an "air bubble" is a great way to put it, as that is how it feels!! In addition I have to sit in specific positions to pee (leaning way forward, knees raised up a little, etc) ... I guess all of this is more crap for IC patients to deal with *sigh* :)

I have alos experienced that air bubble feeling, but, thought it was just me. It sure is great to have a support group to resolve issues we can only express to other IC pts.
Please take care to all!

Yes, everyone, I have experienced 'bladder flatulance'. My first post is on the cystoscopy board. I have not been officially diagnosed but I think IC is what I have. By the way, I am most comfortable when standing up and I sit at a desk all day. That gets kind of irritating.

IC is so weird with such a wide array of crazy symptoms. I have that to and have that too. Never thought it could be from the IC. I thought I was just weird. :dizzy: - Chris

Thank you Lord for bringing me to this web site and the ability to share with others. Up until a week ago I thought I was alone and going crazy with all the symptoms, unable to relate with my family the pain of this disease.
So, to all of you "Thank YOU"

And there was me thinking all this time I must be crazy! Luckily for me I don't find that sensation painful, just a really odd feeling. But it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one, not that I want anyone else to have any of this of course.

I too have that sensation when I urinate. Often times I will feel like I leak urine when I stand up:( Your description of the "air bubble" is what I have been feeling for years and has gotten worse this past year. Now I know what I can call it when I try to describe to my dr what I am feeling.

I also get that sensation and have an urge to push more after urinating to relieve it.. I recently read though that straining can cause additional iritation to the bladder so I am trying to break myself of that habit. I also want to ask if anyone notices a strange urine odor just prior to a flare-up..(usually first thing in the morning) mine is a musky kind of sweet odor and I can't get my doctor to take it seriously..she tells me everyones urine is stronger in the mornings when they first wake up.
