View Full Version : Keflex
I got my urinalysis back and it said I had mixed organisims.
What is this supposed to mean? It this a true infection?
My doctor gave my Keflex. Has anyone ever tried this antibiotic? Is it a good one? I'm not taking it until I hear how you all felt after trying it.
Any advice and suggestions is appreciated.
Thank you
Katrina

I believe mixed organisms means you have more than one kind of bacteria in you:(
I did some searching on Kephlex...here is what I got:
My advice is to talk to both your Uro and OB/GYN about antibiotics during preg. My doctors have told me that occasional use of Keflex is safe during pregnancy. I take it after sex to prevent UTI. I'm not sure about ongoing use though, so you should definetly ask.
Best wishes and I hope you get your UTIs under control soon!

was actually lucky enough to have my doctor see the connection between sex and infections fairly early on and she suggested giving me a prescription. i take Keflex, also know as Cephalexin. I also take this drug when I have an actual infection. the only thing to keep in mind is that by taking the antibiotic your birth control can be less effective (if you take it that is )
So far nothing bad....Good luck!!!
Thank you both for your replies.
I have such BAD luck with antibiotics, usually once I start one I feel worse....isn't that weird?
So, I just wanted to check with you to see how you all felt. I guess I'll give it a try, it would be bad not to kill my "mixed organisims", right? It won't go away by itself I suppose?
Sorry, I'm just so afraid of the side effects, ughhhh

I've taken Keflex before for a UTI and it worked fine, however, as with all antibiotics follows the yeast. Keflex is usually used when a person has a problem with Penicillin. It's a broad spectrum antibiotic, which means it fights many different bacterias. It's pretty good and I have trouble with antibiotics and didn't have many side affects with it except for the yeast.
