I was reading the article on how this unit stimulates the sacral nerve, I was wondering if me not having my sacral nerve anymore is making my IC worse. I had a presacral neurectomy a few months ago when my dr. did excision surgery on me for endometriosis. Does anyone know the significance of not having it is?

That is an interesting question......I know my hysterectomy for endo has made my IC worse...planning on looking into TENS therapy myself soon. I hope someone knows the answer. I personally think that with the nerve gone other nerves may send a signal of pain or what not same as if your arm were cut off but it seems to hurt....hmmm.

I know little or nothing about this topic except that when I went for physical therapy for PFD the therapist would check my sacral joint. Also, isnt the basis of Interstim therapy the stimulation of the sacral nerve??? It sure sounds like there could be a connection for you. I am just sorry I could not shed more light on it...I am sure you should get an "educated response" from someone on this site!! LOL

HI, everyone I'm new and a little scared. After struggling with bladder problems for 2 years (chronic infections ,frequency, pain)my urologist thinks I might have IC.The good news is that I found this web site and find it incredibly wonderful. The not so good news is that I am awaiting a laporoscopy for endo and have looked for good support forums for endo and cant anything like this.I know its off topic but I noticed you have endo and thought you might be able to help.thanx jenny

i think it is the other way around. your ic affects your sacral nerve, if i am not mistaken....
i went to pt today for the first time. she put those elctro tens things on my back and tummy.
the stress from all the pain on your bladder causes the pain in your lower back, etc.
i am pretty sure that it is the ic first, then the muscle and nerve pain, which causes lower and middle back pain.
hope all is well up north for you and your hubby.

:welcome: to the board. i think a lot of woman have endo and ic. i had an ovarian cyst removed in 7/2001 with some endo. had some scar tissue on my colon cut, too. :yikes:
is the doctor going to do a cysto under hydrodistention, besides doing the laprascopy? you might want to ask?
good luck! hope you don't have ic!!!

jjj,
I also would ask for the cystoscopy before your lap, that way you don't have to be awake. A pretty good forum for endo is www.webmd.com, just go to message boards and then endometriosis.
