hi just seen my uro and although they did a pottasium test and tried to out-rule IC. they are now going to try the instills once aweek for the next 3 weeks, then a maintainance top up later on?? Apparently it will put a lining on the bladder and so may ease alot of the pressure!! also they have advised that i get ref to a Gyne regarding my Fibriod!! it is very likely that it has grown and is causing pressure on the bladder so i may be on a roll and getting sorted at last Lol.
anyone any tips on the instills!!

I have been using Cystistat for 3 years now.
My very first treatment began with (and recommended by the Bioniche, pharmaceutical company of Cystistat) is 1 install each week for 6 weeks (sometimes you may have to take the instills for a longer period until you start to improve and strict adherence to the IC diet). After that - you take the instills as you begin to notice symptoms starting to increase again.
I am on a maintenance program where I take Cystistat twice a year ( 1 install a week for 4 weeks) - and this seems to work best for me. I do not take any other medication for my IC and somewhat follow the IC diet.
The installs are pretty painless - unless you have problems with being cath'd - but otherwise everyone I've chatted with who takes Cyst. have no problems with it.
My ic was diagnosed as severe - with pain and frequency being my biggest complaints.
Treatments\medication tried prior to Cystistat:
Elmiron, dsmo, herapin, cocktails, pain\spasm\frequency medication (darvocet, tylenol 3, MS Contin, Methadone, over the counter drugs, detrol, naproxin, belladonna, vicodin, valium, sleeping pills... a few others I can't even remember anymore.
Cystistat is low in side effects as it is cheifly made of natural substances found in our bodies (you can call Bioniche directly and they will give you detailed information on this subject). The theory of how Cystistat works is that it acts as a temporary lining to your bladder giving your blader lining a chance to heal naturally. Unlike Elmiron, dsmo, herapin, cocktails and other instills it is not absorbed by bloodcells in the bladder (ex: the garlicky smell of dsmo is actually picked up through the bloodcells in the bladder)
It has been the only thing that has worked for me and beleive it is worth trying.
Hope this helps.
