Pregnant and DMSO?

Okay I don't know if anyone will be able to answer me, but I'm going to post this hear and on the pregnancy thread and see what I come up with. I was dx with IC in 1997 and since then have had 2 disitensions(sp) and dmso treatments, as this methid gave me the most relief. My last surgery and dmso was in 2001. Since then I haven't had any problems, except maybe a flare here or there if I ate something that was a no-no. However ever since I become pg(I am currently 20 weeks pg) I have had reaccurring uti and now I still have the sympotms of uti but no infection...so I've figured it's my IC acting up again and really really bad. The pain is so bad sometimes I become nausea(sp) from it. My ob is going to refer me to a good uro in the area as I am new to the area. My question before I go is this...does anyone know if I can have dmso treatmetns while pg? This has been the only thing in the past to give me any comfort from all the pain and frequency. I just don't know if it's safe. I mean I know it goes directly to the bladder and all, but I'm still worried. Is there anyoen out here who has some advice for me on this particular subject? I would really appreciate it.

I'm really not sure about DMSO treatments during pregnancy, but Dr. Parsons (he has an article here on the guest lecture series) approves elmiron and heparin instills during pregnancy. I was given the go ahead to resume my elmiron instills during my pregnancy, but I've just been reluctant to get started again (just hard to get back in the habit of self-administering the elmiron) even though I've flared pretty much my whole pregnancy. I haven't heard if DMSO is safe during Preg. My Dr told me Heparin or Lidocain installs are safe during Preg for flares. Maybe one of those might help you if the Uro advises against DMSO.
