Hi

Well exactly 1 year ago my symptoms introduced themselves by way of continuos infections!! ( lovely) and i am still not very near to an ending conclusion!! along the way i have played doctor/specialist/detective/nursemaid!!Lol i have had to help myself to knowledge because if i hadnt i would be no wiser!! These boards have been a god send and without the support i'd be knackered!!

My Gp has this week refused to scripe any more A/Bs !! so now even though my Uro wants me on a low dose i am taking nothing!! Is this going to put me at risk!! ( probably!!) but what can i do ( change GP) yes i have dont that today!! I have gone for a female as i have had enough with smarmy male Gps thinking they know it all!!Ughhh!! Anyway to cut along story short at my last smear ( 2 yrs) they found a small fibroid attached to the front of my whomb. nothiong was done about it!! then last year all this strarted!! could it have grown?? no one hs thought about it and i have been having heavier periods and lots of abdo pain!! can they cause infections?? I am going to see the new female gp next week i will ask for a smear!! and ask her about checking out this fibroid, i am a bit afriad of having the smear because maybe its huge now and they will be able to tell?? what idf its cervical cancer?? i have been more "aware " of my bits lately strange sensations like smells/aches/stabbing pains and general feeling "not right" all the investigations have been centered around my bladder and kidneys!!! maybe it wa my "private parts all along and what if its too late!! sorry for sopunding nerotic but its suddenly makes a bit of sense.

Goodness! I don't really know what to say either.....all of that is mind boggling to read, so I know it must VERY frustrating for you. After seeing the dr. about the fibroid, you should see another uro. for the IC symptoms. Ask the new female gp about a referral to a uro. who knows and understands IC...that is the key. You may have to get on the phone and call yourself until you find one...that's what I had to do and now I love my dr. We all deserve someone that will listen to us and HELP US through this difficult time.

Damn I can really understand the banging your head against a brick wall feeling with the NHS in england. I don't know anything about fibriods, so i'm not really much help there. I really do hope that you find out whats going on. Did you have an ultra sound when you saw the uro? All mine did was blood tests, urine samples and an ultra sound, then wrote me off. I was just thinking that if you did have an ultra sound that might well of shown up the fibriods if they were a big problem, just a thought.
I hope you find your new GP way better.
Good luck.

Wow... I hope you are okay. I know you've been dealing with all of this for so, so long now and I hope the end of the doctor parade is in sight. Definitely get the fibroid checked out; for one thing it could be pushing on your bladder if it's grown and that could cause frequency and urgency. The wife of one of my husband's colleagues had this exact thing happen, and as soon as she had the fibroid removed, her urinary symptoms went away. Now -- I'm not sure how frequent UTIs could be related, but bodies are funny things and you never know. I just hope you can get it all straightened out soon!!! Good luck :grouphug: :grouphug:

I hope you get it checked out asap. You need to take charge of your health and if one doctor isn't concerned or going to follow up on the fibroid find someone else who will. I hope everything will be alright and you can find out what's going on soon so you can be at ease. Let us know how you are doing. Take care - Chris
