Burning Anyone?

I am new to IC. For the past three days, I have had a terrible burning sensation on the right side of my lower pelvic area and my urethra opening. My uro says burning is not associated with IC. Is this correct? (Just got a urine test back that was cultured and no infection. Also had a heparin instillation last week.

I have burning often. With or without infection. Did your uro have any idea of what it might be from if not associated with IC. I know mine is sometimes associated with my flares. I get yeasts infections which cause burning for me too. I check with my OBgyn if it doesnot get better in a few days,

I think burning is definately associated with IC. I've never had a UTI or a yeast infection but I have burning if I don't take the Elmiron and if I eat the wrong foods.

You're urologist must not know a lot about IC because burning is definetly a symptom associated with IC! Not "everyone" may get that symptom but it's very common especially when you eat the wrong thing : S

Your doctor is wrong about this. I have burning 24/7. It is my worst symptom!

Yep same here. I get the burning sensation a whole lot too.

When were you tested for infection? An infection can develop fairly rapidly.

Also, burning is a symptom reported by many ICers.

Yep I'm a burner too, my uro says it is connected to IC.

Definitely burning. It is my main symptom when i am flaring. i rarely have any bladder symptoms such as frequency and urgency its mostly urethral buring and aching. sometimes it feels like a big dull ache especially when i really have to go and other times it feels like razor blades in my urethra. thank goodness most of the time i feel okay.

I have burning and aching daily, my uro says it is a commom ic symptom. I also have burning when I have a yeast infection, I get lots of these, just outside yeast, not actually vaginal.

I am on the site right now because i am burning:( its my worst symptom. When i have bladder pain, it doesnt really bother me too much. the burning just kills me, it throws me into an instant depression. I sit here and pray that it goes away. it really just drives me nuts. it is the worst feeling i have ever experienced. it makes urinating a living hell, because not only does it hurt when i pee, it makes my urethra burn more after.

I also have burning. One thing that has reduced it from an everyday thing to just during flares is changing birth control pills from Yasmin to Necon 1/35. That raised the estrogen by 5mcgms per day and changed the type of progesterone....
