Recently, I was interviewed by Sacramento Magazine. The article is about people who use the internet to get medical information. Of course, I worked IC into the conversation and it showed up in the interview :woohoo: I mentioned how the much this website has helped me and sent them all kinds of links.
I'm on page 142. I even used my real name, which is a big deal for me, after years of hiding this terrible secret about myself. Everyone in this town reads Sacramento Magazine and it's in all the Dr.s waiting rooms. So, hopefully, this will help get the word out that that Interstitial Cyctitis is real.
Here's to getting the word out about IC ! ! !

Very cool!!! As much as I realize it's so important that info about IC is made available, I find it's hard for me to talk about it to others! Hats off to you for having the courage!
Do you know if there's anyplace on-line where we could read the article?

I wouldn't have been able to be so open about if it weren't for you strong women. After not being believed for so many years, I didn't believe the doctor when he said I have IC. I didn't think it was real until I joined this group. I gave her a lot of information, I'm suprised she left so much out.
Here's the link to the article:
http://www.sacmag.com/article3.shtm It's at the top of the 2nd page.

Thanks for the link. The article is excellent, and will likely help many others in your area who suffer from IC and are yet undiagnosed! Good job!

Therese,
I just found this thread... and {{{{{{{{thank you************** so much for mentioning us and for sharing your journey with the media. I never thought I'd be a "bladder spokesperson" but, at the age of 44, it gets easier and easier to share my story. I'm so thankful that you shared your story too!! Very nicely done!!

Way to go, thank you so much for bringing IC into the article, great job, now hopefully more people will realise what IC is all about, rather than just an annoyance having to go the bathroom a lot. I was so pleased to read the article, and thank you so much for getting it into print and out to the public, hugs Iris. :kissing: :grouphug: :flower:

 You Go Girl! Thank you so much for getting the word out there about the demon that lives in all of us here. I know I have had a horrid time finding out what was wrong with me. It took 8 years and numerous Dr.s, some who just wanted to send me to the shrink to get a diagnoses

Thanks, from the bottom of my heart! I hate having a disease that no one understands. Public education is exactly what we need!

I certainly hope so! :) That, in turn, will have the potential to help people outside of Sacramento. A woman emailed me from San Francisco! She read the article at her job, a business office that gets the magazine.
I have received such wonderful feedback from this group, that I would tell my story to any magazine that will listen.

Therese,
Wonderful of you to speak out on IC and share your story. Yes, Sacramento magazine is in every doctor office in Sacramento and all the surrounding counties- I was reading it today in the uro office.
The article mentions you see a uro-gyn- I'm told there is only one uro-gyn in the Sacramento area- a female physician who does not wish to take insurance- I was told she wants cash for visits and treatment. Sound familiar to you or have you heard this? Do you travel for treatment? We should network since I'm east of you.
Anyhow, I just wanted to say thank you for speaking out publically on a rather personal topic. Regards, Carla

I think that's a great idea. Email me anytime and we can compare notes. I see a male doc who I isn't really that good but someone from this group emailed me from Folsom and she loves her doc.

Great article. I'm glad that others can learn about IC. I had never even heard about IC before until my gyn said that this could be my problem. There are many more out there also that have never heard of IC before and have no idea what it even is. I'm glad that others who read your story will learn what this disease is. Good job! Chelsey :) :) :) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Thank goodness you got to share your story. Maybe someone will read it and know they are not alone, or going crazy. Also, that doctors don't know. Like you, I went 10 plus years with my doctor telling me I had a chronic bladder infection.
