It seems to be pretty common among IC patients. I have seen many posts relating to this very issue, so there are a lot of us out here. I get extremely tired myself sometimes... I also have a lot of body pain as I have something called chronic myofascial pain in addition to IC. That causes a lot of muscle soreness.
I think the tiredness comes from being in pain a lot, and from having ongoing inflammation in the bladder -- it takes a lot of energy to run the inflammatory process, so as a result you can feel drained.
I'm sorry you too have to put up with that :grouphug:

Pain can be the most tiring thing there is. However, the symptoms you describe could also be due to a nutritional deficiency. When my potassium level was extremely low, I was fatigued and achy. I do think it would be a good idea to discuss it with your doctor.
Sending warm healing thoughts,
Donna

I'm always tired. I'd like to know also if this is a system of IC. I can be up for just few hours, but then I need to go and take a nap. Truthfully I never feel rested at all. Chelsey

:) Thanks Lyn-
I did go to the Dr., only saw the Nurse...told her pain & tired....her quote "You shouldn't be hurting". Oh well, continue same treatment--waist down---empty blatter & insert med. -keep in for 20min. Acutally I feel like a million bucks for a while. I'm going tom. for treatment again.
I will let you know I've had 2 strokes --Disabled--- try hard to talk about the pains. But Thank God everyday I'm still moving----& my Liver Transplant is doing GREAT--10 years!!!
GOD BLESS----

Fatigue is a big problem with me, and I do notice it more when my IC is acting up. I feel a need to go lay down every few hours. And I am way too young to feel this way.
I suppose a trip to the dr. would be a good idea. But I am still recovering from what I went through to get my IC looked into. I just hate the thought of going in and saying, "Guess what Doc? Now I am exhausted!" :help:

I am always tired, drained and feel like I have been drug by a semi for miles.. thats putting it on the mild side. I think IC has a lot to do with it. I also have , fibro, myofascial pain, sacralittis, pfd, arthritis,.

Just before my IC dx, some routine blood tests showed that I had hypothroidism. I thought it was just my allergy meds making me so exhausted. My reg doc started me on thyroid meds and I started to feel better. Then the IC and a whole bunch of new meds, and more fatigue. Hypothyroid is one of those "other diseases" that are more common with ICers. Talk with your doc; it could be worth a try. I also believe that our bodies are trying to tell us something . . . slow down and let our bodies heal, or at least not make the IC worse.

Hi all,
My urologist told me that being tired is a symptom of IC. Meanwhile I see friends going for nice long walks like I used to be able to do. Today I am exceptionally tired. Fortunately I don't have pain constantly; I have times in between in which this isn't happening. But, sometimes I can have exhaustion and urinary hesitation as a main symptom. I feel IC hurting somewhat like in the background when I sit down. I asked myself if that is what (the exhaustion) dying feels like. I am not depressed. Just wondered. Thank God I am alive!
It is wonderful to come up to this website and know I am not alone. Others who don't have IC can be patient and understanding but they don't know what this kind of exhaustion feels like. Especially with IC being something that is practicaly invisable to people.
Gentle hugs,
Songbird

PS, had a good checkup recently by the general practitioner doctor who says my blood tests for enough vitamins/minerals etc. all look good, blood pressure good, weight good.

I'm glad to see that others also have this tired feeling. At the age of 19 I sleep way too much! My mom is always bugging me about it. Since I've been diagnosed with IC and she now knows this is a symptom, she doesn't anymore. I always thought something was wrong with me because I always felt like sleeping. Chelsey

Where do I sign up? Hahaha..I am ALWAYS tired, and I prefer to sit in my recliner and rest. I hardly ever have any energy, but then again, I am up several times a night.

I hate to say it, but it is nice to know that others are tired, too. I struggle with being tired a lot. I especially just can't stay up late. My husband teases me about falling asleep on the couch every night. :)
I now work from home. I'm thinking about working in a short nap time every day. Maybe that would help. Sometimes it helps if I can get up and do things, but that's not always possible if I'm not feeling well.
Here's to more energy for all of us! (Uh, yeah...)

Hi there :hi:
Add me to the long list of fatigue sufferers. Pain is so hard on the human body and mind. Your body works so hard to ward off pain it's only natural to experience fatigue with IC. I have no magic answers - but wanted you to know that you're definately not alone. Obviously by all the posts it's a chronic condition relative to this darn IC disease. IC SUCKS, DOESN'T IT?
Hoping you're feeling stronger soon. I started taking One a Day for Women and that's helped my energy and strength level some. Good luck!
Hugs...
