I just got a call that I came up positive for HLA? The doctor said it was urgent to see me what could this mean? I will see him tomorrow but I am frieking out. I can't seem to get a clear explaination off of the intranet. If anyone knows anything please some advice. For those of you who do not know me I have been going through a hard time and I am in need of some help right now. I have just had it with all the stuff that's going on right now and I am very discouraged. I would greatly appriciate some advice or just some kind words to help me get through this. I know I'm not going through this alone. My family is so wonderful but can't feel what I'm going through. So here I am all broken up. Just needing a bigger measure of hope to get me through this one. Thank you all and take care - Chris :help:
Hello Chris,
You can bet I'll be praying for you tonight for your dr. visit tomorrow! I'll also keep you in my prayers to get through feeling so sad. You are a sweetheart. That comes through in all your posts and concerns for others.

Chris, I found a site that will explain it for you. I am a nursing student so I know this stuff can get complicated, but this site even has little cartoons to help guide you along. Hope it helps.

Let me know if it helps, ok? You'll be fine. I looks like this is good news for you since you have had all of these problems lately.

I thought that this part would be of particular interest to you since you have been ill lately.
"Sometimes, a patient can have antibody that mimics HLA antibody. Even though it is not harmful antibody, it is difficult for us to determine the cause of the antibody production. Sometimes, even a strept throat infection can cause antibody production which can be confused with HLA antibody. So, it is important for us to monitor monthly serum samples and correlate the antibody production with medical events - such as infections, medications, etc."
Keep us posted, Chris. I hope that your appt. goes well tomorrow and you get the answers and treatment that you need.

It explains what HLA is but I just don't know what disease it is pertaining to regarding my health. The nurse that called was not specific and it really is frieking me out. I have had about all I can take right now of bad news. Thanks you all for your prayers and support. I will let you know what he says tomorrow. Take care - Chris
