small "things" in my urine

I don't think flagly is helping me much anymore....and I know it is changing my body a lot. (Flagyl being one of the antibiotics I am on). Right now no infection present.

Anyway I am not used to seeing anything but urine in my urine....for those of you that do have things in your urine...what do yours look like????

Hopefully I will be able to prove that Flagyl isn't doing anything to my body soon and we can make a change....in the mean time I would appreciate some info here.

I know this is vague and weird....but that how things are right now.

I hope everything is okay with "things" that you are seeing in your urine. Ironic you should address this tonight, as I had several "things" in my urine today. I do see it occasionally but today I had quite a bit. The things that I see look like flakes of skin or tissue.

I always have severe problems after my cysto/hydros and the most recent one (March) had no mercy. I also had urethral dialation and fulguration of the bladder. I have seen more tissue (or things!) in my urine since this last procedure. I'm beginning to wonder how much of a bladder I have left! It freaks me out when I see it, but I have heard that it is normal for people with IC to see these flakes (or tissue) in their urine. All I know is that even though I love my uro dearly, I have so much urethral trouble with my IC and the fact that the cysto/hydros and whatever else they are doing while they are in there causes me to spiral downhill even worse for months and months afterwards, is no MORE treatments, cysto/hydros, urethral dialation OR ANYTHING that will have to be accessed through the urethra. Unless they find a "cure" for this dang disease that will mandate administering through the urethra....then I will have to suffer and deal with what I've got.

Katrina....the only times I've seen "things" in my urine they were like pieces of skin. I don't like hearing that you may be getting worse. Thanks for all you do for us here at the boards.

I see things that are like flakes of skin sometimes. I've also seen an "oil slick" on top of the urine in the toilet water.

I really hope you are not getting worse!! :grouphug:

Katrina, I took flagyl and had a very bad reaction to it. My urine turned dark green, there were flakey things in it (also streaky blackish things), I had abdominal cramps, and a foul odor to my urine. After 3 days I called my dr and he said to stop taking it. As soon as I stopped, all symptoms were gone. Please contact your dr if you suspect something isn't right.

Even those with completely normal healthy bladders will have some particles in the urine. The thing is that those of us with problem bladders have a tendency to pay attention to what our urine looks like --- if you had healthy bladder, you would very likely pay no attention to your urine.

Thanks for your replies. Didn't mean to confuse you....I have been on flagyl forever! This isn't from flagyl....unless it is a sign that for the first time in a billion years (in my body) bacteria (even if it is a small normal ammount) can grow in my bladder. (so many thoughts guess I don't know how to get them out)

I have done some chatting about this with IC friends and have heard someone describe hers as I would describe mine...white bits of things. I guess that does look similar to bits of skin. Mine is gone now and was only pressent this weekend when I was so sick I took a UTI home test because of it. (Even though while on an antibiotic UTI seems unlikely)

The fact that it was there when I felt my worse and not there now does mean says to me it could mean something......and there was quite a lot....I think a healthy person would notice too.

I have had that in my urine a lot. To me it looks like tissue. White pieces in there and like someone else mentioned sometimes like a film of wierd looking stuff on top too. I have no idea why it is there or what it is. I have had a lot come out before and can be scary but when I have gone in there is usually no infection present. I hope that has helped. Atleast you know you aren't the only one right? Well I hope it goes away and doesn't bother you any. Take care - Chris :)
