I am just coming out of a bad 5-day IBS flare, and had a terrible time with simultaneous uterine pain, almost exactly like menstrual cramps, along with the usual lower intestinal pain. I had a short conversation with my GI doctor, and he said that this is common, as the colon presses on the uterus when it is gassy and inflamed, I presume. But the question is, what do you do for it? I took Bentyl and it helped a lot with the intestinal end of things, but did nothing for the uterine pain. Now, my doctor is out of town! I don't know which was worse; the intestinal or uterine pain! Any comments? I also have a fibroid so that doesn't help matters, as it just makes things more congested down there in general. Usually it doesn't bother me, tho. Also, has anyone found anything better than Bentyl (I hate the side effects) for the diarrhea-type IBS? Thanks!!

My doc recommends Immodium ....and to keep taking it! Other than that with IBS you need to find your triggers to know how to treat it! If yours is fat than fiber should help you. ...for me IBS gas is caused by breads and cerials....so an antispasmatic and non prescription gas meds help me...gas can couse pain almost everywhere. ..A presciption anti spasmatic helps a lot...as does beano....good luck I hope you feel better soon!!!!
