Hello this is my 1st post here. I am still waiting on word from my doctor about my test results. I have dealt with chronic UTI's AND yeast infections since i was 18.(Since i became sexually active with my b/f, now husband)I am now 29.
I usually got 1 UTI a year but since 2000 i hadn't had one. So i was hoping i was in the clear from reaccuring UTI's till 3 months ago.
I started noticing a week or so b4 my period i would get symptoms of a UTI. Just urinary frequency, feeling of fullness, and a little lower back pain.
No burning, or pain anywhere else. Just basically running to the bathroom every 20-30 minutes. When my period would start, my symptoms decreased and sometimes went away completely till this last month. A week b4 my period the symptoms started again.I had my period and still had the symptoms afterwards.
I made an appt. with my Obgyn for a pap and urinalysis. My pap won't be in for 3 more weeks but my urine culture and urinalysis all came back normal.
For the last week all i do is pee, but i have no pain, or burning or anything. Not even lower back pain now. The back pain only lasted a week.
My doctors are stumped and forwarded my results and records to a specialist whom i am awaiting word from.
I do also have a discharge and fowl odor from my vagina that has been there for a couple weeks. Not sure if its related to the UTI symptoms or not.
Will my thinprep pap results determine if i have a vaginal infection, or does it just check for abnormal cells like cancer?
And what in the world could this possibly be that i keep having a full bladder and running to the bathroom.
I am a stay at home mom thank god, cause i couldn't handle being at a job like this.

Thanks all for the warm welcomes! :)
I still haven't heard from my Obgyn on what they think i should do next. But then again my Pap results won't be in for a couple weeks. maybe there waiting on those results also. I know some infections can mimic a UTI. I'm praying thats what it is. But from all the info i have been reading it certainly sounds like IC. And sounds like thats what i have been dealing with for many years but have been treating it with antibiotics all along.
If i don't hear something soon from my OB i am gonna make an appt. with a Urologist soon. We have a good one here locally. So i may give him a try.
Thanks again!

:welcome: :welcome: :hi: Welcome to the ICN!
Your story has some similarities with mine...which is the main reason I think you may have IC...because you could have a yeast infection or STD causing your symptoms. I hope you are ok and it is something simple like a yeast infection (which I hate them...but better then the alteratives) I hope you feel better soon. Read my IC story from the link below.

Well my Obgyn called today and said they was at a loss as to what was wrong, and my pap results won't be in for at least another week or 2. So they told me to see my family physician asap. So i called my family physician to make an appt. and they no longer take my insurance do to problems they had had with them taking too long to pay patients bills. So now i have to find another physician, and am confused whether i should wait till my pap comes back and see what it says, or go ahead and make a Dr. or Urologist appt. I would like everything else minor ruled out 1st before i go starting all these tests for my urinary tract.
So should i go ahead and make an appt for a urologist even though i don't have my pap results in?

And also, i was reading my book" The yeast connection and the woman"
It had some very interesting chapters in there on Interstitial Cystitis and how people have responded successfully to the "special diet" and sugar free diet and also taking diflucan to rid the body of harmful yeast.
I am wondering if anyone has read this book, or if anyone has tried the diet it talks about doing to rid your body of harmful yeast. I am up for anything even though it means giving up all my sweets and junk food! :yikes:
