I have read somewhere that some women are using a small vibrator to massage and help relax the pelvic muscles. I was just wondering if anyone here has ever tried this and what their experiences with it were. Did it help?

Just curious if anyone had heard of this or tried it before I go out and buy one. Thanks.

I can't use one, it hurts me way too bad with my Vulvodynia.

Yes it actually is helpful to relax, we all know that sex can be painful especially when you know its coming, and tense up.. I don't have VV, but, from what I undestand those of you who do cannot use one... My Sister in law had a sex toy party and they had one called the silver bullet that has a slide bar setting, from very light vibes to very strong vibes... hope this was helpful :)

It sounds to me like the original poster wasn't talking about orgasm but about using the vibrator on her abdomen and around there to help massage the muscles. Is that right? I hadn't thought of that before although I'm going for PElvic Floor Therapy and have stretches and internal massages to do...

PikkuMyy, you are correct. I'm not talking about using one to achieve orgasm, but maybe to help relax the muscles through a vibrating massage. I've been to sex toy parties before, and have seen the wide varieties that they come in. I was thinking of purchasing one of the smaller ones that just vibrate. I would think that the full size ones would put too much pressure on my bladder and might be painful to use. I was just wondering if anyone had tried this before.

I wasn't talking about one for an organsm either....I got pain from a normal vibrator...(was a gift from my aunt who thought it may help my pain)...wish it had but instead it hurt....kind of like a car ride ....possibly would be ok for less than 10 minutes on me...

Sorry if I hadn't been clear before.

I prefer a heating pad on my tummy. Even on hot summer nights, just 10 minutes laying on my belly, on my heating pad works wonders. My husband is afraid I will burn down the house, so I heat it up then turn it off........by the time it cools my lower abdomen is in better shape (well not better "shape" but that is another story altogether) I can guarantee I couldn't use a massager.......I know the car vibrations riding over the dirt roads can put me over the edge..........hugs.....

I use a heating pad, as well, pretty frequently. I have a homemade one. I made it one night many months ago when I was in a lot of pain and without a regular heating pad. I took an old pillowcase and put in some dry, uncooked rice. I stitched up the open end and then put it in the microwave for aobut 2 minutes. It holds the heat well and lasts a long time. At first, I wrap the excess pillowcase around the rice to buffer the heat. As it cools off, I slowly unwrap the excess pillowcase. This way I am not attached to the wall and don't have to worry about falling asleep with it still on. I have taken it in the car with me before as well.

The vibrations of riding in a car do not bother me. In fact, I sometimes find it almost soothing, unless we are on a very bad and bumpy road. Maybe since riding in a car doesn't bother me, the vibrator would not either. Not sure since some of you have said that it has hurt you. I'm still debating as to if I should try it or not. Thanks for the replies.

I love my rice heating pad. I just call it my rice bag, since it's just a pillowcase with some rice in it. I like it so much that I have never bothered to buy an actual heating pad. It holds it's heat for maybe a good two hours. The thing to remember is that it slowly loses its heat. I usually heat mine up for 2 - 2 1/2 minutes. At this point it is pretty hot, that is why I wrap it with the extra material, so that I don't burn myself. I can then adjust it as it starts to cool. I like that in can just mold to my body, I don't have to hold it in place. There is a little bit of weight to it, but I find very comforting and soothing. I even like the smell of the rice when I take it out of the microwave.

I use a vibrator to relax my pelvic muscles and to have an orgasm, the combination of the relaxation of the muscles and I think when you have an orgasm your body releases hormones or something that fight pain and make you feel better all over. I think you should try it!!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement, Danielle. I think that maybe I will. Now I just have to talk my husband into going to the adult store with me.

I have found that a heating pad on the abdomen and an ice pack on my genital area does me wonders!! Sometimes better than my pain meds. I alternate the heating pad between the abdomen and the back. It helps sooooo much.

Hugs~

:) i have tried using a vibrator to achieve orgasm because i am unable to have stimulation to my clitoris because of the VV, but afterwards i have found it sends "down there" into spasms, and i get a flare:-S anyone else experience this? i also have pelvic floor physio therapy, and am still on doing stretches lol (after 5 months of therapy)..unable to place anything into my vagina yet, due to muscle dysfunction! :(....

There is also a swedish massager the slides on your hand that many barbers use on the necks of their clients. You can buy those at barber supply stores and I have used them to relax my abdominal muscles before.

Lady Tamara, Unfortunately, orgasms do not soothe me at all. Like you, I think they make the pain worse. Kind of like eating something I'm sensitive to. The pain is not immediate but comes eventually and lasts several hours.
