It seems I've had bladder problems for as long as I can remember. When I was 17 I had my appendix taken out and was treated for a bladder infection. My bladder has never been the same since. About 6 months after my appendectomy I was having such horrible bladder symptoms that I had a cycstoscopy, which then resulted in my diagnosis. My doctors report stated it was one of the most severe cases he's seen and I was sent home w/ 9 different prescriptions. I continued on feeling horrible for months. Until I decided I was done w/ the meds. I stopped them all, and other than having a few kidney stones I felt great. In the last year or so it seems as though its all come back to me, other than the fact that it doesn't feel like I have a bladder infection anymore. Its just straight pain that I have associated for so long w/ my IC. My bladder will feel rock hard and it seems as though its impossible for me to completley empty my bladder. The night time has gotten horrible, I must go to the bathroom at least 20 or 30 times before I actually am able to fall asleep. And latley my bladder has started leaking. I'm 21 years old and my bladder leaks. Sometimes its fine, others it happens every time I stand up. I have no medical insurance and have medical bills totalling over 8,000$. The only treatment I have recieved is a prescription for vioxx and a prescription for vicodin which I rarley even take. I guess what I'm wondering is if any other's w/ IC expierience leaking? Its new to me and I can deal w/ the pain I just can't deal w/ this.

Leaking is not usually a result of IC, but it can be. Have you been checked for infection? You might pick up a home test kit and check --- and if the test says infection, you definitely need to see a doctor. The one I use is made by "First Response" --- I prefer that one because I don't have to compare colors on a dip stick. If the solution foams, it means there's probably infection there.
Sending warm healing thoughts,

I sometimes leak with my IC, not as often as I used to, but ever so often I will. It is very annoying! :headbang: I asked my Uro about it once and he thought that maybe my bladder wasn't emptying when I would use the bathroom, so he did this test on me and everything was fine, and then it was never addressed again. So, I don't really have any suggestions for you, but I can tell you that you are not alone. Good luck!

I leak. I find that it happens when I have been in a flare and I have been straining to go pee. I wear a pad now, almost everyday. I find the worse time for me, is at night, when my body is completely relaxed. So again I have to wear a pad. When I am have a good bladder day or week I still take my prescription I was given, called Oxybutnin. Maybe you can discuss this with your doctor.
Take care and I hope you find a solution to your problem.
Lynn :)

:grouphug: :grouphug: I don't have a sollution but I have been there. I hope you can get something that helps you....but if not ...know you are not alone. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
Be careful in wearing pads on a daily basis, as I've heard they can contribute to vulvodynia/vestibulitis. I have these diagnoses, and use to wear pads every day when the IC symptoms came on in fear that I would have an accident. I wonder now if this led to my vulvodynia/vestibulitis?
