Does any have this problem? If I exercise I get body aches that make me have to go to be with like flu symptoms.

Have you discussed this with your doctor? Many ICers, including me, have to stick with smooth exercise, such as walking or an exercycle.

Warm hugs,

hmmm...could you be overdoing it? I don't get sick from exercise .. I feel great afterwards. Does this happen every time? I agree with Donna, maybe you should see your doctor?

Hugs, and hope you're feeling better soon! :)

Thanks for responding. I have had IC for 12 years now and this only happens sometimes. It is not always due to exercise, sometimes it is only from over doing it. I have never read this as a symptom of the disease and was wondering if anyone else ever had this happen.

I have noticed that when I go all day, I guess "over do it", that I am more fatigued than before I had IC. I am sore, moody, backaches, etc. I believe that it is a combination of meds and getting older. :hmm: Or maye I am just too lazy most of the time and need to get out more. :ignore: If you are having these symptoms to the point that it is disrupting your normal exercise levels then I recommend contacting your dr., as the wise Donna has mentioned. Good luck!

I have to say that I chuckled when I read your post header. "Exercise makes me Ill". I thought, WOW! my kind of woman!!! (just joking, humor is my only way to deal with all of this). I do not have any experience of being truly physically ill except when I get overheated when exercising. Most people don't realize how quickly and easily it is to get over heated and experience heat stress. Common symptoms of heat stress (stage before heat stroke) is nausea and sometime chills. If this sound like you, you need to take caution to not get overheated. Depending on your body and metabolism, you may easily get overheated in a situation that you would expect to. I know that I take some meds that make me get overheated quickly!!!! However, because of my arthritis and osteoporsis, it is critical that I exercise on a daily basis. I'll second what Donna says about finding an exercise program that you like that is smooth exercise. Yoga is a good one, swimming if you have access to a pool, walking at a mall if you can. I bet if you find something that is mild exercise and the temperature doesn't get high, you'll have less problems if not no problems after exercising.

I hope this helps! Good luck. I'm still chuckling about your header. I think I'll try using that one next time the dr asks if I am exercising! Tee Hee

when I do anything that has impact higher than walking (power walk to running and fast step aerobics) I end up w/bladder frequency and more urethral burning, but no feeling sick. Yea, I would say the same as Donna, just let your doc know and see what he/she says.

Hi all,

I have found exercise is sometimes really difficult when I'm in the midst of a major flare, but overall I find it helps me, especially if I have mild pain and it takes my mind off the dull ache for an hour or so. I only do low impact stuff like walking on the treadmill and weights, and I have to do the 'low impact' option when I'm doing my aerobics class (we get both a low impact and high impact option in the one class I go to). But knowing I'm doing one good thing for my body amidst the pain killers and other medications helps me a lot.

Kirsten :)
