What can you tell me about urodynamics test and cytoscopy under anesthesia?
I really need some info about these test, like what did you go through during and after the tests, and what to expect.
Thank you

A good place to start is the Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook. In addition, The Interstitial Cystitis Survival Guide by Dr. Moldwin has excellent descriptions of both of these tests.

For the urodynamics test, check out: http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseases/pubs/urodynamic/ -- it has an easy-to-understand description of what to expect.

A good website for the cysto/hydro under anesthesia is http://www.ichelp.com/TreatmentAndSelfHelp/CystoscopyAndHydrodistention.html .

Hope these help.

:)

Good luck :grouphug:

The only way we could get a cysto done was under anest. I cant handle anything going in the urethra. Lidocaine doesnt numb me therefore I feel everything. My uro used a #17 french cysto, that was the smallest he had. I felt fine after, minor burning but not enough to be crying about. I took a pyridium as soon as I could and I think I took one or two more total. The urodynamics, they attempted but I couldnt handle the pediatric cath. I have had urethral burning for the better part of 18 yrs. so that just wasnt something I could handle on top of the burning I already had. Remember we all react different-some things bother some ppl while those things wont bother others. Good luck!
