Anyone out there that has been diagnosed with IC and MVPS? I'm new to the boards, but was diagnosed with IC about 10 years ago and have been following this site for any new information.

Two years ago I started feeling extremely fatigued and had chest pain. The cardiologist did an echo and said I had MVP and not to worry about it, but my symptoms continue to mount. Headaches, low blood pressure, extreme exhaustion on exertion. Some days I just feel like I can't do anything but sit.

So, I'm just wondering if any else out there has MVPS as well as IC.

I was just wondering, what is MVP?

Mitral Valve Prolapse - it's a condition of the mitral heart valve. The valve is floppy or may not even close all of the way. Anyway, there is a syndrome they call Mitravl Valve Prolapse Syndrome. It is actually and autonomic nervous system condition. On the IC Patient Handbook site under related conditions, it is listed there.

:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome: Welcome to ICN message board! I realize you have been watching us a while but you become part of the family once you start posting (or atleast a closer part of the family....I send out prayers and love for all who have IC) I don't have MVP.....or atleast I haven't been diagnosed with it. I probably was tested by my cardiologist so probably not.....but I do have extreme exhaustion and low blood pressure......faited a few times when stress could not have been the reason.....anyway, please post again....and feel free to contact me if I can do anything for you.

I hope your IC and your MVPS are under control.

Thanks for saying hi....so many of you are so young. I didn't get IC until later in life, age 42. It was triggered by a bad urinary tract infection. It took me years of going from doctor to doctor before being diagnosed with IC. Unfortunately, the bladder instillations don't work for me. I have severe pain a week afterwards. I am very sensitive to medications, so with Elavil I'm a walking zombi. I currently just use Hydroxyzine, which seems to help some, unless I'm under severe stress and anxiety, in which case only Vicodin seems to help. I did try the Elmiron and it seemed to work for a while, but my uro doesn't totally believe in it. So....

My company lets me work from home, so that helps a lot.

Thanks again for saying hi and I will be praying for all those who suffer from this horrible disease.

If your symptoms have worsened, I suggest you discuss it with your doctor.

I hope you feel better very soon.

Warm hugs,
Donna

:hi: and:welcome: I'm glad that you found us. It's okay to lurk in the shadows too :lmao: I was diagonsed with IC on August 10, 2004 after 8 years of Dr's telling me it was an UTI or it's all in my head  I seemed to have developed this condition after a severe kidney infection that landed me in the hospital for a week. If we could only roll back the hands of time :dizzy:

Anywho glad you joined us but not glad that you have IC. I have Tachacaradia(sp) that I take Tenormin for on a daily basis. Since my heart races so much it will make me faint I have to be very careful as to what I do. Having IC doesn't help at all either because when I am in severe pain my heart will beat a whole lot faster and then the Tenormin doesn't phase it. It seems I am taking so many meds that I rattle when I walk :lmao:

Hi all, I am 21 and was diagnosed with IC when I was 19 although I have had UTI symptoms since high school... I am interested in talking to people who are reasonably young, or who can help with coping on bad days...Im attempting to work and study but am finding it hard at the moment. I live in australia and find that we are restricted with the medicines that are available over here and worst of all there arent many drs who specialise in ic...would love to know all you can tell me! :) Hannah

I also have MVP and SVT. I feel pretty good with those :lmao: compared to this IC stuff. Just diagnosed Monday. I take Toprol to slow down my heart, and antibiotics before I go to the dentist. I hope you feel better.
