I know this may sound silly! I am driving myself nuts about having to have a upcoming colonoscopy. I did talk to my G.I. about my concerns following my scope. He said he could do a barium xray but it was not as accurate as colonoscopy. I was just as confused after his nurse came to talk to us and said she did not recommend the barium she said I would not like ok.(lol) cant imagine anyone would... I am not really concerned with the procedure as much as I am the prep. I always am uncomfortable for a few days following all the yuck I have to drink and take. I also am upset that after 2:00 in the afternnoon on thursday no solid foods only liquid till 4:00 from 4 - 12 p.m only drinks and the tests is not scheduled until 3:00 in the afternoon on friday.. I know I could do it but it wont be fun and I get diahera caused by prep makes my bladder hurt.I feel bad about calling to ask if they could reschedule for this reason but its really bothering me. I need to call them anyway as my stomach pains continue to be bothersome and the colonoscopy is not for about 4 more weeks. Also they gave me a choice of pills to pick from to add to yuck stuff. Lemon lime, cherry, orange,or regular has anyone found these to bother your bladder?? I am thinking regular is a safe bet but doesnot sound so tasty.. Thanks

I don't have any experience in that area to be able to help you, but...I do wish you well whatever avenue you decide to take. I understand not wanting to do anything that might make you feel worse when you are already in pain. If you are not having any specific problems causing you to need the colonoscopy done at the time, I personally would reschedule.

I think I took Chery....and one sharp pain only for a few seconds. When I complained hugely about the prep to my doc ....they offered to have me go through the prep as a patient in the hospital....treating my pain and such....I still didn't take the idea....but if you think it helps you maybe they would do that for you. I hope you can find a way to help work things out for you.

I did the orange flavor and it didn't have any orange in it. It didn't taste good, but it also wasn't awful. I believe everyone should have colonoscopies --- if only to remove any polyps (which can turn into cancer). I dreaded mine, but it wasn't bad at all. Too many people die with colon cancer when it can be avoided by having check-ups.

I also was concerned about the liquids for a full day and then nothing on the day of the procedure --- I had mine at around 2:00 pm --- but I made it through and it was only two days out of my life. I did have a polyp so definitely it was worth it. I also found out I have diverticulosis and have made some changes so that won't develop into inflammation.

Now I need a mammogram and for me they are far worse!

Thank you Donna and Katrina. My anxiety kicks in and I let it run.. I know it needs to be done espically with all thats going on with me. I just need to relax .. I am really letting it panic me. You both helped it doesnot sound as bad as I thought. I have to call the office tomorrow and let them know my I am still not feeling all that well and see if my biopsy result is back. I will check again and see what my options are.
Thanks so much
Kelly
