View Full Version : Searching for support
I was diagnosed last June and went through a remission starting in Dec that lasted until just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, this remission made me seriously question my diagnosis as I wasn't aware it could go into remission. I find myself back at the depressing start of trying to cope with this diagnosis. No one understands what I am going through. I have yet to find a doctor that can make a difference in the quality of my life. I don't know where to even start to find some emotional and physical peace. Please help me. Kate

:welcome: to the ICN... I know dealing with the diagnosis of IC can be difficult. Have you checked out our Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook yet? That is filled with wonderful info about different treatment options and has tons of great self-help tips. Read, read, read...arm yourself with information about your condition. It's VERY empowering to know what the possible treatment options are and then have a discussion with your urologist about them. And... if he/she doesn't want to listen, then fire him/her!! Keep searching until you find the right health care provider for you. There are some great ones out there. :)
I know it's very frustrating in the beginning, but most IC patients find something that helps and many lead normal lives.
Good luck, and keep posting if you have any questions at all :grouphug:

:welcome: I also am very glad you found us.
When you were diagnosed, was it by a hydrodistention in the hospital? If so, that may be why you were feeling good for so long. If that's what happened, you might think about having the procedure done again. It's what helps me most.
Also, I absolutely agree that you should put yourself on an IC diet to see if it helps.
Sending warm healing thoughts,
Donna

:hi: :welcome: The others have given you some very good advice when they suggested you look at the Patient Handbook available here. It is full of great information. Most of what I know about IC, I have learned here. :)
