View Full Version : Anyone have burning feet?

In the last six months or so my bladder pain has been worse and whenever the pain gets to a certain level I start to feel the same sort of burning pain in the bottoms of my feet that I do in my pelvic area. Sometimes the pain will travel up my legs into my ankles and calves, but it always originates in the bottom of my feet. There is no question in my mind that this pain is connected to whatever is going on in or around my bladder because it never comes seperately. I think a lot of my bladder pain is actually muscular as oppossed to being inside the bladder. In light of that I don't know if a connection between the bladder pain and the burning sensation in my feet is more plausible or not (intuitively it would seem so, but I really have no idea). I'm just terribly curious as to whether anyone else has ever experienced something similar.

YES!!! Gosh, I thought I was the only weirdo with the stinging feet... I get that too though, and I think it has to do with nerve impulses. Some of the nerves coming from the sacral area of the spine go to the bladder, and some continue down the legs all the way to the feet... I think that sometimes signals get crossed so you can feel bladder pain in the bottoms of the feet. In fact, I've heard reports of other IC patients feeling pain in their big toe during flares, and I think it's the same mechanism.

First off :welcome:

It doesn't suprise me that you have pain at the bottom of your feet. Do you know of refexology? You may want to try it ....it could help your bladder and your feet.
http://www.ic-network.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7562 At this post there are four downloadable attachments. One of them is reflexology for hands and feet for the bladder. The idea is you message the pain out.....sounds like it could help you. I hope that helps you....if there is anything else I can do for you...let me know.

Thanks for all the info, everyone. It's good to know that there is an explanation for such seemingly disconnected pain.
Katrina-Yes I have heard of reflexology and have often wondered about where the bladder point was. I'll take a look at those links, thanks!
