Hi! I just moved from Arizona to Silicon Valley and I'm hoping to meet other IC sufferers in this area. I'm in the process of trying to find doctors out here and I'd love to talk to anyone from this area about any doctors they really like...
Living in Sunnyvale, you live really close to Palo Alto.
Dr Payne @ Stanford University Urology Clinic in Palo Alto is my doctor. I've been happy overall with the care I've received from him & his staff. You can read his lectures online here in the Patient Handbook section or on the Interstitial Cystitis Association website.
Welcome to the Bay Area:)

Hi Judy,
:welcome: to this crazy expensive place to live!
I am also a patient of Dr. Payne. It may take a couple months to get an appt. But he is well-worth the wait!

Kadi & Melanie....
Thanks for your welcomes & feedback about Drs here in the Bay Area. Another quick question for you....what type of Dr is Dr Payne? I need to find both a Primary Care doctor & someone to treat my IC & related problems. If Dr. Payne isn't a Primary Care doctor, as I expect he isn't, can you suggest someone? As you both know, I want to find someone who will work with me to coordinate my care who is at least somewhat knowledgeable about pain & pain management. In Tucson, I went through hell for almost a year before I finally hooked up with my current Primary Care doctor....I don't ever want to repeat that experience! For now, I plan to travel back to Tucson regularly to continue seeing him until I can find the right team out here.
Thanks again for any help you can offer. I thank God that there is such a wonderful place to come & talk with other sufferers.

Hi Judy!
Dr Payne is a urologist specializing in female incontinence & IC. He is one of the top doctors in the country treating IC. He is one of the most compassionate & definitely the most knowledgeable doctor I've worked with. Everyone in his office has been kind & helpful. I've never been treated rudely or indifferently by anyone in that office (wish I could say the same for the many other doctors' offices I've been in this past year). I drive 1-1/2 hours each way to see him & it's worth it.
I wish I had some recommendation for you for a primary care doctor, but I'm looking for one myself... I live in Castro Valley. Anyone out there know of a primary care doc in either Hayward or Castro Valley? I think for me, one important thing about a primary care doctor is that they're close to my home & with privileges at the nearest hospital.
Wishing you all the best in your relocation & health:)
