I'm going to be going to the dentist But what am I supposed to do about needing to keep getting up to go to the bathroom, do I explain this when I make an appointment or after I get there?

Just be up front with your dentist or hygienist. I went this week for a new crown I had put off 4 months and cleaning. I asked for a break and went. Besides, your dentist needs to know your medical situation. Mine always asks if there is a change in my health and what meds I'm on. He even talked to me about dry mouth and how important it is for good dental care, especially now. He gave me some info on mouth rinses and lozenges for a saliva substitute. Good luck but don't put it off.

It is okay to explain your needs when you get to the dental office. Tell your hygienist and the dentist him/herself. I know that my dentist was always fine with my need for bathroom breaks. Also, you need to let them know what meds you're on too... for example, I'm on Elmiron, and I notice that my gums bleed more now because of it, and my hygienist noticed that too when she was scraping the tartar off (eeeww, disgusting, I hate that).
